Fault of GSX
« on: November 15, 2013, 01:37:44 am »
I can't see the “Couatl powered products" menu, under the FSX “Addons” menu bar.
Of course, Ctrl + F12 is  no effect also.

Sometime, I can see only first. But after a while FSX was hanged and vanished menu.
After that, I can't see again. I tried reinstallation of all, but I was getting same result.

- purchased.
- Default EHAM.
- Win 7 (64bit) & FSX SP2 + PMDG 737NGX.
- Antivirus OFF at FSX root.
- Installed VC++2005 R(x64) 8.0.56336
- Installed VIRTUALI Addon ManagerX

What should I do?

Your log shows that Couatl is starting normally, but it seems there's a problem with creating the scenery cache, which might be due to a corrupted/defective scenery you have installed.

Try to let it rebuild both FSX and GSX caches by removing the following files:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryIndexes ( remove the folder )

AND

C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl

Thank you for your quick response.

But the situation changed nothing.
I did it in sequence of the following.

- C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryIndexes ( remove the folder )
- C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl ( remove the folder )
- Installation "gsx_fsx_setup.exe"
- Installation "setup_addonmanagerX.exe"
- Starting of "FSX Booster 2013"
- Starting of "FSX"
- Load "PMDG 737NGX at EHAM"

I attach the log then got.

The add-on which I am using except scenery as follows.
(probably, these are moving at the same time)
- FS2Crew NGX Button
- Traffic 360
- ActiveSky2012 (not activated at the time of the test)
- FS Cabin Crew (not activated at the time of the test)

What should I do?

- Starting of "FSX Booster 2013"

Try not starting this one.

I did it.

However, the situation did not change.
I attach the log and fsx_cfg at that time.

Are there any other things which can be done in me?

However, the situation did not change

You still have the same error as before:

Airport cache not valid: file meta.txt not found or malformed

Which means, you either have a corrupted/faulty .BGL file or, another addon you use is locking access or making changes to your scenery.cfg or your fsx.cfg (the FSX "booster" program might do that).

You must find either the faulty .BGL file, by uninstalling all other sceneries, or the faulty other add-on that is causing this, by running FSX with ONLY GSX and nothing else.

Ummm.....n.

I think that it is the work which needs time very much.

In addition, if the booster cannot be used, the quality as the whole flight simulator will deteriorate.
Although the ground becomes good, the sky becomes bad. It is a problem.

I would like to think for some time.

You said you tried it without the booster and it didn't do any difference ? Is that true ? Are you really tried it or, you haven't tried it because you don't want to stop using the booster ?

Note that, the booster doesn't do anything special, it will just set your FSX.CFG using the same parameters that you could set yourself so, please, confirm the problem still exist without using it or not.

I regret that you doubt me.

Without regard to the performance of FSX, I did the test.
Because, We must find what is bad.

But the result did not change.
If fault is based on the already changed information, I can think that it is reasonable.

And, I would like to quote the following text.
------- FSX Booster 2013 FAQ -------------------------------------------------------
Q(Question): Do I have to run FSX Booster 2013 every time FSX runs, even if I finally
found the best FSX Booster 2013 setup?
A(Answer):  If you want to benefit from all features YES. Changes are made in your
fsx.cfg but not all functions are in there. Many things are done by the application
itself – in the background while it runs – and this is one of the FSX Booster's greatest
advantages.
------- Manual Page 27 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Are they telling the lie?

Then, I have a plan.
It is autogenerate new fsx.cfg by starting FSX, after removed old fsx.cfg.
I remember that the fault of fsx might be repaired by this method.
Do you think that it has an effect?

I regret that you doubt me.

I haven't doubted you but, since you said you don't want to stop using the FSX Booster, I guessed you haven't haven't really tried it. Knowing if the issue changes with the program not running, would give me some hint about possible suggestions. Telling you to turn it off when just for TESTING.

Are they telling the lie?

The "background processing" they do, it's just acting on the FSX.CFG and being sure that, if you don't run the program, you won't find the changes applied to it when you exit. Is their way to protect the program: if the changes made to the FSX.CFG would have been permanent, you could just look at them from a similar PC (like a friend's one or another user with similar specs) and copy the tweaks in your FSX.CFG without buying it.

But in the end, it doesn't do anything really different than the free tool from Bojote

http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

Look here too:

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/74786-fsx-booster-2013-no-improvement-to-bojotes-tweaks/

I'd say you would get improvements from it if your FSX.CFG was bad to begin with. If your FSX.CFG is already optimized, it won't change much.

You can try it, and run without the FSPS booster first. If it works, at least we would know is something related to the FSX.CFG

OK. Let's return our theme.

The test procedure is below.
- Remove C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryIndexes
- Remove C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl
- Remove C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfg
- No Starting of "FSX Booster 2013"
- Starting of "FSX"
- No Configuration at "FSX Settings menu"

You still have the same error:

Airport cache not valid: file meta.txt not found or malformed

Try to run FSX As Administrator.

The fsx.exe has already been ran by administrator.
Just to make sure, I selected and ran by the right-click.

The test procedure is below.
- Remove C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryIndexes
- Remove C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl
- Remove C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfg
- No Starting of "FSX Booster 2013"
- Starting of "FSX" as Administrator (selected and ran by the right-click)
- No Configuration at "FSX Settings menu"
- Load "PMDG 737NGX Tutorial #2 EHAM-LOWI"

The situation did not change.
I attach the log then got.

It's possible you have a corrupted scenery. Try to disable ALL add-on scenery areas from the Scenery Library, leaving only default enabled, and see if it starts now. Then, enable them one by one, until you'll eventually find the culprit.

I disabled as much as possible.
(ex:"0005 BASE" is cannot disable)

The result was good. I found the menu.
Although I did the same test twice, I both looked good.

By the way, I received the message from GSX by "CTrl+F12".
Can I clear this message in the process of enable scenery?
