No Rain Accumlation
« on: May 09, 2013, 03:49:29 pm »
Departed 4R KJFK at 1210Z yesterday in PMDG 737NGX. METAR indicated rain and it was raining at KJFK however the rain did not accumulate on the runway. It was dry. Weather engine was AS2012 with textures by REX. When I completed the flight I started at 4R again with FSX weather specifying rain. No accumulation. Switched to 31L . No accumulation. Taxied to Gate 39. Rain stopped even though FSX still specified rain at all stations.

Tried CYVR 8L this morning with FSX weather specifying rain. No accumulation. Tried KLAX 24L. It was okay.

Works fine here, see the screenshot. However, rain at both sceneries is made in "puddles", and not the unrealistic shiny effect like a default scenery.

Sometimes weather engines will decide that the weather is "Light Rain", in which FSX won't change the runways to the wet version

It's something that's related to FSX, and not FSDT.

Just landed at KJFK 4R in Heavy Rain using AS2012 and REX. They could be puddles but it looks like something bleeding thru the runway.

What about the rain disappearing between the takeoff end of 31L and Gate 39?

They looks like puddles to me, and I don't see any bleeding. Do you see something different compared to my screenshot ?

I don't see any problem there too or anywhere else, you might simply have come across an dry area between two puddles, and thought the rain disappeared, probably because you are accustomed to how the default airports looks, which is really overdone and not very real.

I did two screenshots like the one you posted above. One with rain and the other without rain. I can see a difference. I think I would leave the runway refraction up to other programs for future airports or new versions of existing airports.
