I have issues... Still
« on: March 01, 2012, 11:40:18 am »
I hate to complain, but I used to fly with no problems in and out of LAX, now suddenly GSX writes: "No service at this position".
I am using the same AFCAD(edited) as before, yet before it was not a problem! Maybe It's because of your new update to LAX?

Also SFO, I re-downloaded the AFCAD(KSFO.BGL) and edited for my specs(AFCAD editing is necessary, FSDT AFCADs are often out of date).

What can I do to make this work? I don't understand this.

Your message is not very clear: the  "No service at this position" is to a specific parking spot, or it happens *everywhere* at KLAX ?

If it happens everywhere, it might just be you haven't noticed is regenerating the scenery cache and, while it's doing that, there are no service available anywhere until it's finished. If you keep changing the AFCAD, it will have to regenerate the cache everytime.

I just landed in DFW, and the same thing here. I used to be able to call for a parking space, but instead when I hit ctrl+12 I get a green letter message saying "no service at this position". And then the youcontrol screen shows only hangar doors open or close options(standard product feature).

DFW was not updated recently, and I have flown to DFW before enjoying full delight of GSX.
Is it necessary to run the editor tool? What could I be missing?

I think you have a problem with the scenery cache. Try to remove the following folder:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryCache

and let GSX rebuild its cache.

Ok I will give it a try!
Thank you for your help! I did see FSX rebuild the scenery cache everytime I loaded flightsim at a GSX compatible airport.

You surely have that folder, but it's hidden by default, so if you don't enable the option to view hidden files in Explorer, you don't see it.

Where do I look? In my FSX.cfg location folder or the direct path you mentioned?

Here is my FSX folder:

Looks like you have Windows 7.  Click on "computer", then hit your "ALT" button on your keyboard.  This will reveal drop down menus.  Go to the menu called "tools."  Then go to "folder options."  Then click on the "view" tab.  From there, look for the opton toward the top that says "show hidden files, folders, and drives."

Once you do this, you should be able to see the scenerycache folder.

As I've said:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryCache

Which is NOT where your FSX.CFG folder is located, that would be %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX, which is NOT the same.

Ok I located it, it holds no files what so ever! The root folder (FSX) has many different things.

Still deleting it will help?

That's not normal, and it's no wonder nothing works and, as you said "FSX rebuild the scenery cache everytime I loaded flightsim".

Are you running FSX in any of the "Compatibility" modes ? XP, Vista, etc ? If yes, turn if off.

I deleted the folder, and I started FSX and there was all GSX options available at LAX and DFW so it seemed to work.

But I get an update request from an update in February, also I can't setup airport in the GSX options, I do how ever have the editor.

I turned off compatibility mode a long time ago as I had addon conflicts because of this

Thank you again for your support!
