f - 18 and acceleration cockpits

Can anyone please tell me why there are no main panel/2d cockpit views in the f - 18 and any other acceleration aircraft?

Quite simple: because Microsoft decided, when planning the product, to do so.

And, if you want my personal opinion, they did the right thing: VC in FSX is finally usable, even more so if using something like the TrackIR, there's no reason anymore to prefer 2D panels.

i like VC. the only problem is that it keeps moving when you speed up or slow down, some way it becomes hard to see stuff. and its quite dark to see small black dots in the dark blue water, such as carriers.... and the VC hud refresh rate is like 10fps even when im playing with 60fps, because of this i have to use the 2d view hud over my virtual cockpit... but its all good

You can turn the head movement off with in the FSX.CFG file... I found some information previously on this, I will try to find it again and post it here.  I hate the head movement thing, seems totally unrealistic or at the very least over exagerated.

I couldn't find anything so here.

Go to your FSX.cfg (Start > Run > %appdata%/microsoft/fsx/fsx.cfg)

Find the section titled
Code: [Select]
[DynamicHeadMovement]
Replace the whole section with this.
Code: [Select]
[DynamicHeadMovement]
LonAccelOnHeadLon=-0.000000
LonAccelOnHeadPitch=-0.000000
RollAccelOnHeadLat=0.000000
YawAccelOnHeadLat=-0.000000
RollAccelOnHeadRoll=0.000000
MaxHeadAngle=0.000000
MaxHeadOffset=0.000000
HeadMoveTimeConstant=1.000000

RazGriz, Many thanks. I'll give it a try. Have to reinstall FSX Accel - it seems to have been trashed by recent ATI Video HotFix. Does this happen with ATI drivers? Anyway... :-)

Thanks again. After re-install and making a backup of FSX.cfg, used WordPad to make the change and ensured that the file was saved as 'text only'. I guess I could have used NotePad but WordPad is right there as an option.

NO more Head Bobbing - great.

Thanks for posting that, it was the last remaining thing I didn't like about the VC's.
