This is of course normal, as the release notes say:
GSX Pro Installer: Installing GSX Pro from scratch will download packages updated to 2.7.7 which will result in a faster install.
Now, since we *JUST* uploaded these files and, of course, you are NOT downloading from us directly ( if you could, our server would crash immediately as soon we release an update ), you are downloading from the Cloudflare node closest to you, what happens in the FIRST FEW DAYS after such big release of large files is that, in order for the nodes closest to you, the first user of that node WILL in fact download directly from us, but from the 2nd user onward, all users of that node will then download from that node, which will of course be *way* faster.
Since Cloudflare has 270+ nodes worldwide, it will take a few days before they'll all replicated the new .ZIP file we just released, because we need at least one user for each node in order to do that.
Now the obvious benefits of this, after the replication will complete:
- BEFORE this update, everybody installing GSX from scratch, would first have to download the basic ZIP files for the 0.1.0 version, which has been the base version since last August 2022 when GSX came out, but THEN he'll would have to wait for a VERY long Update process, to get all the latest files that would bring him to version 2.7.7 and, considering that we changed so many things in the meantime, the first Update would take much longer than the actual download of the base version.
- AFTER this update, when all Cloudflare nodes would complete their replication, everybody will download from Cloudflare again, so the download of the base installation will be as fast as it always was, but now the update process would be WAY quicker, because you would start from 2.7.7 already, meaning the next updates will be very short, and so will be future reinstalls.
So, you just have to be patient and endure slow downloads for a few days, but it will so much better in the future.
