GSX VDGS - Slow response to aircraft movement
« on: November 27, 2022, 10:36:08 pm »
Hi,

I have noticed this everyday occurrence I have. I have created a GSX profile for ORBX Prague, and placing the GSX VDGS systems at terminal stands.

However, what happens every time, that when VDGS starts the distance countdown to the stop position, around 0.8 - 0.6 meters, it will skip the STOP position, and it goes from 0.6 straight to TOO FAR.

Just to stress, I was parking with 2kts Ground Speed, so there is no way it could have been this fast. So I assume that there is some kind of lag between how GSX monitors the plane position vs stop position.

Am I the only one who has this issue? Happens with every plane I fly.

The VGDS surely shows the Stop position and yes, there's obviously *some* lag, because of the Simconnect communication lag but, if we had a "predictive" system to counter the lag, if you are approaching slow and do it perfectly, it will result in stopping you too early instead.

So approaching at 2kts Groundspeed is too fast? ...

It's just about right, at least in real world. But that assumes the airplane ground friction is exactly like the real world, brakes effect is exactly like real world, and in real world there's obviously no lag so, maybe, you need to be slower than real world, at least in the last meters.

It's interesting that other VDGS systems available for MSFS don't have this issue.

The GSX VGDS doesn't have it either, just tried it now, it's working normally:
