Problems getting a push using Kodiak

I am struggling to get a push at all now when flying the Kodiak, when flying on Vatsim I usually get all set up and ready to go before requesting push, however if I start the engine on the Kodiak before requesting a start I get an audio message saying I need to stop the engine for ground services (and I cannot get the settings up)

I have customized the plane and selected "start engine before push" but it still does the same?

The Option seems to be working as if I try to request a push without starting the engine I get an option asking if I want to start the engines first...

How do I overcome this?

That option is mostly meant for airplanes without an APU, but will still work only after you call the GSX Pushback, it won't give you the freedom to use GSX on a parking with the engines started.
