ok I thought that was only me. I even removed gsx.

Good Evening,

If you are using FSDT scenery purchased through the MS Marketplace and you are attempting to download the new GSX update.  I identified a workaround that will allow you to download the update.  This update will fail if you are using FSDT scenery purchased in the marketplace only and found in your "Official" folder. 

1) Before running Installer or Live Update, navigate to your local/packages folder.  From there you will have two choices either your community folder or the official folder.

2) Select the "Official" folder.  Navigate and find your FSDT airports.  Then cut them from your official folder and move them to your desktop or other location outside of the "Official" folder.  Make sure there are no other FSDT sceneries in the Official folder.

3) Run the Live Updater or Installer and update GSX as normal it should work as intended.

4) When the update is complete, paste your FSDT sceneries back into your "Official" folder.

5) Boot into MSFS and enjoy the update.


I hope this will help the developer identify where the issue is, because there is one and it's with their sceneries when attempting to download the GSX config files for those airports.

Thanks Nifty im sure people will appreciate your assistance with this.  But I will say that this shouldnt have to be the solution for a decently priced payware program.  Its just another layer of complication and messiness that builds up garbage in our files.  Ive just removed everything all together as best as I could guess seeing as there is no real uninstall process (alarm bells right there!).  I think i'll stay away for a while and get some sanity back.

Of course this is not "the" solution and I'm pretty sure FSDT team will fix it shortly.

I have the same problem when trying to update. Exception caused by Key West KEYW

GSX will now not load and cannot be installed. If the addition of owned encrypted airports was at the end of the installer rather than at the front at least GSX would install. As I purchased KEYW through the marketplace it is difficult to remove completely from MSFS. Hope someone at FSDT responds soonest.

I'm also getting the System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException when trying to update GSX whether through the installer or the updater. For me it appears to be trying to execute the step "Updating FSDT Chicago O'Hare for MSFS." That was a Marketplace purchase for me, so perhaps that is the crux of the issue for those of us getting this exception.

There are several threads on this, but the work-around (see here: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,28881.0.html) is to remove any FSDT add-ons purchased through the MSFS Marketplace from the community folder and then update.
