Anti Virus Software
« on: August 25, 2022, 05:13:20 pm »
After loading GSX Pro and MSFS I get a message from McAfee that they just stopped a virus and couatl64 will not start at all.
Should you be turning off any anti virus software during installation.
I have CYVR installed allowing me a free trial but nothing happens at the airport. Jetways are standard and couatl_64 will not launch.
Any help with this matter would be great.
Cheers

We don't usually suggest to turn off the antivirus but, instead, add the whole Addon Manager folder to the antivirus Exclusions, the run the FSDT Live Update again or the Offline installer posted as Sticky in this thread.

Unfortunately McAfee will not allow an entire folder in exclusions.
Maybe I should turn McAfee off during install?

Unfortunately McAfee will not allow an entire folder in exclusions.

That's a very strong limitation, I wonder what's the point of switching antivirus from the perfectly functional and free Windows Defender, to something that has even less features. This one is probably the most important any antivirus can have.

I am not alone with this McAfee problem. A search has shown that a lot of people have the same problem and some are even getting rid of McAfee all together.
