Hanger lights illumination
« on: November 11, 2021, 07:54:11 pm »
In the KMEM hanger, I noticed that the hanger lights do not illuminate the aircraft in the night mode. I would of thought
there would be enough candle power to illuminate a dark aircraft.

This is in night mode - hanger lights are on

This is in day mode with hanger lights on

Same issue here at KMEM with floodlights on and dark aircraft

Just for the record

This is a flytampa scenery at 29 palms and the hanger lights illuminate the aircraft inside and the aircraft beacon
is illuminating the aircraft- so I conclude that there is no dynamic lighting to accommodate the dark plane
in the hanger at KMEM hanger . Perhaps a frame rate eater -  But nothing wrong with setting on my P3D as this image proves
it out

Ultimately, it also depends on if dynamic lighting was built into the scenery. I'm not familiar with the FlyTampa scenery that you mentioned, so I can't comment on that one. As for FSDreamteam, most of the sceneries were originally designed for FSX and then got ported over to P3D, so I'm not sure those sceneries have dynamic lighting built in. The only two FSDreamteam sceneries that were P3D V4 native are Basel and O'Hare, and as far as I know, both have dynamic lighting.

As Kevin said, KMEM is not a native P3D4 scenery, it was originally made for FSX/P3D3, it was released about a year before P3D4 came out, which first introduced Dynamic Lighting.

And on the same day it P3D came out ( June 2017 ), we released KCLT, which used Dynamic Lighting before everybody else. All our sceneries released after that ( KORD V2, KSDF, LFSB ) and all our sceneries for MSFS 2020 too, all use Dynamic lighting, since they were designed for simulators that have that feature.

After we'll release KCLT and KIAH for MSFS, KMEM is one of the most likely candidates for a remake in MSFS, which will of course feature full Dynamic Lighting, which is far better performing in MSFS.

In any case, I'm sure you'll find lots of features at KMEM that nobody else has, which are all still unequaled this day ( try to take the elevator inside the Control Tower in Avatar mode, for example ).

I purchased KMEM back in Feb 2017 - I have already explored the tower and that was nice. I had P3D V3 at the time later and bought KMEM. Short time later, I got V4 of P3D and wasn't aware of the dynamic lighting effect. Is there an possibility that KMEM could be updated for P3D V4 or V5 - I don't care much for the msfs.
I am from KMEM area and sure would like to see a remake for P3D.

When MSFS came out, we announced the only product whtat will be continued to be supported in P3D is GSX. We are already enterely overbooked with our work on MSFS, that we simply lack any time/resources to do new products for P3D.
