Bus wheels not visible **SOLVED**
« on: April 25, 2021, 02:18:08 pm »
Hi Umberto,

I've had this problem for a while but can't determine the solution. The passenger bus wheels are not visible. See attached screenshot. Is this an altitude thing with the airport or something else?

I'm not sure they are invisible, that bus has wheels covered and, if the airport has slightly raised ground polygons to prevent flickering, they might be more difficult to see than they usually are, but it's difficult to say in your screenshot.

Fair enough. All the other vehicles have wheels which made me think it could be the bus model that was lacking them. I’ll change the view so I’m lower down and check again.
Cheers,
Ray.

Look closely, very last set of doors at the back of the bus, under the right side door, you'll see the one tire.

Vehicles need more ground clearance than that. What happens when 60 pax board it? It grounds!  ;D

Okay, I'm going to show you something. I just went outside and took this picture literally three minutes ago. You can see that aerodynamic fairing is very close to the ground. I don't necessarily like it, but I'm not the one who built the truck, I just drive it.

This is the real life vehicle featured in GSX ( Neoplan airport bus )

As you can see, even in real life, wheels are quite hard to see due to its design.

It’s UK2000 EGCC. Apparently compatible with P3Dv5. I’ll try another test at KORD Mk 2. That was done by you wasn’t it Umberto?

Captain Kevin, I would still expect to see the wheels on a bus.
Cheers,
Ray.

I withdraw my case.  ;D

My main point was about the ground clearance, but that also depends on the design of the vehicle. I don't remember where I saw this, whether it was Orlando or California, but I did see city buses somewhere that had the rear wheels covered. The front wheels were not because it would block the ability for those wheels to be steered. I also know of another trucking company that has the trailer skirts extend far back enough that they cover the trailer wheels. Not really sure why or if there's any benefit to doing so, but they're the only trucking company I know of to do so. Aerodynamics and fuel economy and all. Whilst I don't concern myself too much about it, companies take this seriously.
