Possibly a bug?. Carenado ATR42 - No stairs message
« on: December 26, 2019, 07:26:16 pm »
I've been trying to setup GSX for use with the Carenado ATR-42. I can set up the cargo door and it works well. I'm stuck at the passenger door (on the back of the plane) with embedded stairs. Even after setting up the door location and the upper and lower stair positions, GSX keeps sending a message saying it won't be possible to see animated passengers, since there's no passenger door.
Possible a bug in someplace?.
I can imagine that it will be the same with the Carenado ATR-72.
The Carenado Embraer B120 works very well in every aspect.
Help please.
Cheers, Ed

And have to add, the Carenado Saab 340, works very well too.
Couldn't the door placed on the back be a problem for the interaction with GSX?.

Hey Ed,

I have set up the ATR 42, and everything seems to work. When selecting the rear passenger door, did you make sure you have it active with the drop down menu?

Once I’m on my other computer I’ll post what I have in my config file.

Cheers,

Colin

Hi Colin:
Yes, please. And if possible please post your gsx.cfg file for the ATR-42. To me, it happens the same with the ATR-72.
Thanks, Ed

Hi Colin:
Tested your gsx config file on my setup and it performs well.
Tried to see the differences between your file and mine, and only found that you use "door with open/close check, bla bla bla" and I've used "without open/close check". That should make a difference. There are other minor differences that I don't think makes any influence, but took your gsx for the installation. Also, tested it with the ATR72, and after some editing of the new positions, it works well too.
Thanks so much for your help.
Cheers, Ed

Happy to help Ed.

Glad it worked out. I remember taking some time to figure out both the SAAB and the ATR. I also had to change the service door to open/close with no checks. I use Shift+5 to open the doors. There is only one option and it opens all the doors. What do you think of the Embraer 120? I don’t have the ATR 72 yet. I find the ATR  works pretty well with GSX. I’m not sure if you can reduce the number of flight attendants. I doubt the ATR needs 4 of them. The SAAB, since it’s slightly smaller than the ATR, you can see the top of passengers’ heads as they walk to their seats. This has been brought up before, but GSX has mentioned that it would be hard to model passengers crouching down as they walk down the aisle.

Wasn’t sure about the cargo belt. Would the baggage handlers just toss the bags in from the cart, or would they use the belt?

Nappy New Year !!

Thanks again, Colin:
I like the Embraer 120 very much, I fully recommend it to you, and it's working very well here with GSX. As with the Saab 340, there's the problem with the passenger heads at the top of the aircraft, difficult to be solved. Yes, the baggage handlers just put the baggages over the belt from the carts, and you can see them going up/down (loading/unloading) over the belt very nicely, and hear some noise too.
The logic I used for GSX with the SAAB and the Embraer is the same one that didn't work well with the ATRs (I have both the -42 and -72), so to me is still not clear why it worked in some cases and did not in others. Glad you were here to help.
Keep in touch.
Cheers, Ed
