GSX not working
« on: August 08, 2019, 07:02:36 am »
Hello,

Ever since I applied the new update, my coualt engine (and by extention, GSX) doesn't open when starting the sim or work anymore when manually opened. I've tried reinstalling the update but to no avail. Any reasons as to that ?

- Couatl can never be run "manually"

- If it doesn't start with the latest update, the most common cause is the antivirus blocking it or causing a mixup between old and new files, because it's allowing some files to be downloaded, while blocking others.

Configure the antivirus to exclude the whole Addon manager folder, and run the Live Update again.

I only use windows defender and GSX and/or addon manager is no longer visible in the addon section in the sim

Didn't changed a thing.

Be sure you turn off the firewall, and try again the Live Update.

Like said earlier, the update was a success, no files missing BUT the update made it impossible to have GSX or addon manager work with the sim again.

PS: just tried that and didn't work.

You haven't said which is "the sim", because if you don't see both programs, it might be a problem of the configuration files, which are totally different between FSX and P3D4

Using GSX lvl2 in P3Dv4.

Do you see the Addon Manager in the OPTIONS->Add-ons menu ?

Like I said in my earlier posts, No.

You said "the Addons section of the sim", which is not very clear, since there's an "Add-ons" menu, and another Add-ons sub-menu in the OPTIONS menu. That's why I had to ask because, depending on *where* it's actually missing, the next troubleshooting steps would be totally different.

I'll clarify better:

- If it's missing from the OPTIONS->Add-on menu, it will *surely* miss from the "Addons" menu, and this usually indicates a problem with a failure to create/update the add-on.xml

- If it's present in the OPTIONS->Add-on menu, but it's missing from the main "Addons" menu, it's likely a totally different issue, usually related to antivirus and/or missing system libraries.

So, which is your case, exactly ?
