Refuelling action clears payload fields
« on: December 30, 2018, 01:33:23 pm »
When I request the refuel option GSX is adding the relevant amount of fuel but it's also zeroising the payload fields bar the pilot field for my Carenado PC-12.

I've checked the manual and there's no mention this will happen. Bug?

Sim is P3D v4.4.

The GSX refuel will only affect the fuel tanks, it surely won't touch the other payload. Of course, this assume the payload has been flagged as such in the airplane.cfg file and not, for example, as another fuel station.

Hi Umberto,

I've just tested it again and it's definitely GSX clearing down the payload fields with the exception of the pilot field which remains at 180. Rather than attach the whole aircraft.cfg I'm pasting the payload and fuel sections for info.

max_number_of_stations = 9
station_load.0 = 180,  2.5, 0, 0
station_load.1 =   0,  2.5, 0, 0
station_load.2 =   0,  1.5, 0, 0
station_load.3 =   0,  1.5, 0, 0
station_load.4 =   0,  0.5, 0, 0
station_load.5 =   0,  0.5, 0, 0
station_load.6 =   0, -0.5, 0, 0
station_load.7 =   0, -0.5, 0, 0
station_load.8 =   0, -1.0, 0, 0

station_name.0 = "pilot"
station_name.1 = "pax fwd"
station_name.2 = "pax 2nd row"
station_name.3 = "Pax 2nd row"
station_name.4 = "pax 3rd row"
station_name.5 = "pax 3rd row"
station_name.6 = "pax 4th row"
station_name.7 = "pax 4th row"
station_name.8 = "400lbs max"

[fuel]
LeftMain  = 0.5, -4, -2, 203, 2                  //Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons)
RightMain = 0.5,  4, -2, 203, 2                  //Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons)
fuel_type = 2                                   //Fuel type: 1 = Avgas, 2 = JetA
number_of_tank_selectors = 1
electric_pump=1

If you require any more info just ask.
Cheers,
Ray.

That looks ok. Is this only happening with that airplane ?

Yes. The only other 3rd party one I have is the XTreme Prototype Learjet 25 and that's fine. Mystifying.

Here's the state of the fuel and payload before and after requesting refuelling.

Umberto,

I'm attaching the aircraft.cfg just in case there's something else that might be causing it. I tried a couple of default aircraft and the problem didn't show with those. Just the PC-12.
Cheers,
Ray.

Umberto, I've asked in the AvSim Carenado forum if anyone with GSX could check whether this happens with their PC-12. Not had any replies yet. Have you had any joy with this?
Cheers,
Ray.

Umberto,

I previously said my other 3rd party aircraft - a Learjet 25 - wasn't affected by this problem. In fact it is. Just selected a refuel and all pilot and pax seats have a value of 170. Previously pilot and copilot was 0 and only 5 pax were loaded with a value of 248.

I've just done an update of GSX too

LATER: I monitored the Zero Fuel Weight of the aircraft in FSUIPC Logging using 3BFC Type S32. Display to Title Bar. Divide value by 256 to get ZFW in lbs.

Before requesting fuel the value was 1955840 / 256 = 7640. That's Empty Weight + Payload. Payload was 0 with no crew or pax.

After requesting 1496lbs of fuel that value changed to 2475584. Divide by 256 and you get 9670.

The Empty Weight is 7640 plus 2030 = 9670.

But I never changed the payload. GSX did.

Hi Umberto, I asked the question on AvSim and another user confirmed GSX also changes his payload back to default settings when fuel is requested.

As I've said, we are looking into it. I think to remember there was some kind of bug/quirk in Simconnect which requires to change at least one payload station value, in order to change the fuel but, of course, it must be set to the proper value, not zero.

Okay, happy to wait for you to find and fix it. If a payload value needs writing perhaps you can read all the payload fields and write the same values.
Cheers,
Ray.

Of course, this is what is supposed to do so, there must be some kind of bug in the code.
