GSX - No Sounds
« on: February 17, 2017, 06:41:13 pm »
Hi All

I'm not hearing any sounds from GSX (in FSX). I am however hearing the Pushback sounds associated with PMDG products, so my Sound device is working. On checking the error log from Couatl this is shown:

Initializing audio...
Available devices:
Generic Software on Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) (47656e6572696320536f667477617265206f6e20537065616b65727320285265616c74656b204869676820446566696e6974696f6e20417564696f29)
Audio disabled per user settings

How can the "Audio" be disabled as per user settings when I can hear them perfectly well via the PMDG aircraft - I have Windows 7 64bit. . .

Many thanks
Paul Jennings

Fact that you hear audio in other application, doesn't mean your audio device will surely work with GSX. GSX uses OpenAL for sound so, if your audio device or audio drivers have issues with it, you will hear sounds, but not from GSX.

Of course, this assume you have selected the correct audio device in GSX. Your log shows you have disabled it. To undo all your changes, try to remove this file (when the sim is not running):

%APPDATA%\Virtuali\Couatladdons.INI

Then reinstall GSX.

Thank you for the reply Umberto. In truth I have no idea how but it's now working. I went back to the GSX drop down and the Sound device was selectable this time, whereas before it was there, but was unable to select it. I am happy for you to mark this as closed/solved as you think fit...Many thanks ???
