P3D 3.4.22 - 19868 problem **SOLVED**
« on: February 02, 2017, 07:09:50 pm »
Hi,

Just updated to P3D 3.4.22, everything would be fine but I get a bglman.dll error on each start.
If I disable BglManager via the dll.xml file everything is just fine.

regards

You must use the current version of the Stand-Alone Addon Manager, which has been updated today, to support the latest P3D Hotfix.

Many thanks for the prompt answer!

Problem is that I'm doing just that, downloaded the Stand-Alone Addon Manager 20 minutes ago, also noted it has a larger size but the problem still exists.

Which is correct, and it's the version required to support the latest hotfix. We obviously tested it before uploading, and couldn't get any crashes.

Tried ten times and rebooted twice in the meantime. Then installed the addon Manager again. The problem persists, the same Bglmanx.dll error and P3D wouldn't start.

I can only confirm it's working fine here, so the only possible reason must be something wrong in your system. The first and usual suggestion would be:

- Download and install with the antivirus Disabled.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the P3D folder before starting it.

Also, check if you have this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers\Prepar3d.exe

and remove it.

Done all that, the problem persists.
Could nail down one thing though, if I only disable couatl in the exe.xml file, the addonmanager loads fine.

Done all that, the problem persists.

With "Done ALL of that", you mean you DID have this key in the registry and you removed it ?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers\Prepar3d.exe

Do you still have it now after launching the sim again ? What it contains ?

The reg entry only existed for FSX and P3Dv2 which had been uninstalled long ago. Deleted that. Now after some more trial & error stuff I get no crash if I start P3D as Admin. So far it has never been the case, so if the difference was there, I'm happy with the solution if it works on the long run...

That's strange, since all our software has always been designed to be 100% compatible with UAC rules, so it doesn't require running As Admin, which is not how I usually start P3D ( FSX:SE, instead, runs As Admin by default) so, perhaps there's something unusual in your system setting.

But if it works for you, it's all fine.
