That's normal. Whenever you install a new version of the sim, you need an updated Addon Manager program that supports the sim. This is exactly the same as many other 3rd party modules, like FSUIPC or similar, that needs updates every time a new build of the sim comes out.

We released a version compatible with P3D 3.1 the same day it was released. Download the Stand-Alone Addon Manager to apply the update.
