No Approaches for CYVR show up
« on: October 08, 2014, 12:41:26 am »
Hello,
On my most recent trip into CYVR, I noticed that when I try to assign an approach in my aircraft CDU, I get a strange error that says CYVR ERR:  13 RWY N/A

I recently updated my Navigraph and I am wondering if this is something to do with magnetic variation or something. I reinstalled CYVR and it didnt help.

I can't see how you might think this has anything to do with the scenery. First, you don't even say which airplane you use but, since you say you used a CDU with Navigraph, you should be aware that the MCDU use ONLY that data source, it's not interacting with the scenery, the problem is entirely within your database.

As also confirmed on several forums:

I have no idea what would have caused this to happen. That is why I asked, I know that there were some magnetic variance changes to CYVR in real world so I thought that would be the problem. Sorry you took such offense to a customers question.

I have no idea why you would think I was in any way offended by your question, can't see any traces of it in my reply. I've just pointed you to the solution, which I found by googling for "Cyvr rwy 13 error", the two links I've posted were the first 2 hits returned.

As a general rule, anything that happens inside a CDU of an airplane using the Navigraph database, it's not the result of any interaction with the scenery.

Which is why, I find the whole idea of getting constant navdata updates a bit problematic, because if the sceneries are not updated as well, it might be confusing to see, for example, different runways in the scenery and the CDU, or being cleared by the default ATC (the default ATC DOES use the scenery) to a runway or an approach you don't have in the CDU anymore.
