No Terminals at the Airport I Did't Want
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:44:28 pm »
Last night after downloading and installing KLAX I paid for it and activated it. Somehow in the payment process Zurich was slipped in and I could not delete nor change the quanity from 1 to 0 so I ended up with an unwanted airport. Later during the night I downloaded, installed and activated KSZH. There are no terminal buildings. Only jetways, taxiways, and runways. No error messages were received during the installlation and activation and since everthing was downloaded last night I imagine it is all current and pertains to Version 2.0. This my computer and addons copied from an Avsim forum

You can remove an airport from the order before confirming it, on the web store by simply removing it from the cart and update the cart, and on the integrated purchase, by exiting the purchase before confirming it, and doing it again.

Whenever you have these problems, first try to install the Stand-Alone Addon Manager for FSX after all the sceneries OR reinstall the last released scenery (KLAX in this case)

What is the Stand-Alone Add Addon Manager? I downloaded the Addon Manager for FSX from the KLAX web page and tried to install it. I received the attached error about 10 seconds into the installation, clicked on try again, got the same message and then clicked on abort. That where I stand right now.

That error code means you tried to run the installer too quickly after FSX was still in the act of closing itself so, it locked some files for writing. Of course, if you ignore the errors, nothing would work.

It should be fixed by rebooting Windows and redo the installation.

That seems to have done the trick. There are terminals now. I need to check KLAX and make sure it is still okay. I won't get to that until tomorrow morning. If you don't here anything from me everything is okay.

Thank you

Terminals are gone at both Zurich and KLAX now. I am afraid to even look at the other FSDT airports.

Usual question: do you see both the Addon Manager and the Couatl menus under the FSX addons menu ?

Under the FSX menu bar Add-ons is addon manager and couatl-powered products. Click on Addon Manager and it goes to 2.8.0.7 with buy, register, settings, the normal look. Click on couatl-powered product and it goes to key mapping.

This means the software is running properly, the only possible explanation is that you have installed an older scenery after KLAX. Reinstall KLAX OR download and install the *current* Stand-Alone Addon Manager for FSX as the last step after all the sceneries.

Also, check if you have a couatl.err file in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali and, if you have it, post its content.

As I indicated in the first post Zurich was installed after KLAX. So here is what I have done. Installed KLAX. Installed Addon Manager. Tried two flights at KLAX. Tried two flights at Zurich. Everthing seems okay. This %APPDATA%\Virtuali didn't produce anything. Searched for couatl.err and it was not found on the computer. Manually searched for the file in fsdreamteam\couatl folder. It was not there. So everything seems okay. I know as soon as I click on the post buttton for this reply something going to be screwed up. Hope not.

That's exactly what I've said, you installed Zurich, which is older, after KLAX, which might have created the problem. To fix this, either reinstall KLAX OR reinstall the Addon Manager as the last thing you do. Now, I'm not sure to have understood what you are meaning here, that you installed KLAX *and* the Addon Manger after the initial installation, which was Zurich after KLAX ? If yes, it HAS to work so, does it work now ?

It seems to be okay now. I did a KLAS-KLAX flight this afternoon and I am doing a KJFK-KDFW right now. I did two flight around Zurich in the Trike.  Everything appears to be normal.
