I find it interesting that this RN video shows an HUD view (from Helmet Mounted Display I presume) for carrier landing practice on their simulator. It seems the F-35C is not going to have an AoA Indexer as a backup device. The cockpit and controls are only similar (I think) to an F-35C but early days for them. At moment I don't have sound on computer so I'm hoping what they say is worthwhile, Steve Long (shown) is an F-35 test pilot.

How to land on an aircraft carrier without jump jets 16 June 2011 | UK By

http://bfbs.com/news/uk/how-land-aircraft-carrier-without-jump-jets-48705.html[Best Quality VIDEO on page above IMHO compared to Utube version below]"Work has started on how to fly fast jets from Britain’s next generation aircraft carriers.
The decision was taken late last year to fly conventional catapult launched planes from the ships instead of more expensive harrier style aircraft that can land vertically.
But that has caused all kinds of headaches, and the designers have resorted to a simulator at BAE System's aircraft factory at Warton to sort them out.
By the time the Queen Elizabeth class carriers enter service it will be more than four decades since British pilots have operated from a conventional carrier – and that means
lots of key skills have been lost in the mists of time."
