Reposition to other gates using tow
« on: December 26, 2023, 01:06:09 am »
Now that GSX fully supports 'reverse pushback' it should now theoretically be possible to pushback from a gate using GSX, and then be towed to another gate by the tug using the same logic that the follow me car uses.

Exactly, pull was first required, and in this first step of the implementation, we added:

- Custom Pushback

- Return To Gate

In the future, these will be expanded with:

- Push-in

- Gate-To-Gate

Will we able to select which taxiways to taxi via once the feature arrives? Also, Is there any timeline for this?

Umberto, you mention push-in and gate to gate. Is tow-in going to be an option. I'm customizing the parking at KSFO now for push-pull, and I see on the charts that there are some gates where widebody planes must tow in at all times, and others where they must tow in if they come to a stop before reaching the stop bar since jet blast would be an issue.

Push-in to me means this:

i=KXvCgdc5DID1ygac&t=44
i=9Mr3uIb6twt3XpaW&t=8508

When I say tow-in, I mean being pulled into the gate, not pushed into the gate.

Since we have both push and pull, it's clear that we could do both push-ins and tow-ins because, what makes them different, it's just the final heading of the parking spot itself.

Yes, of course we could have had push-in before (when GSX could only push) but, since it surely a way less common procedure than tow-in, it might have not been worth adding it before having the pull.
