I posted in General Forum but probably should have posted here as I am getting error also and cannot use GSX2 or CYVR and KLAX

Since I ran the latest live update (several times) Coutal keeps crashing and it tells me to load the latest stand alone manger.  I have to tell it not to load coutal to get into the sim.  But then of course no GSX2 etc

Error says: "The addon <unknown> is causing the Couatl Scripting engine to restart.  Pleas download and install the latest Stand-Alone manager from http://www.fsdramteam.com/sa-addon-manager"

From Log:

couatl v3.2 (build 4244)

problem raised by addon <unknown>
Traceback (most recent call last):

To anyone else having this problem, just wait and try the updater later, sometimes your local server or service may not have the necessary files yet.

Hi there,
Same issue here (or approximately) after updating GSX using live update.
Couatl engine stops working just after launching P3D4.4, and gives me this error message :

couatl v3.2 (build 4244)
panic log started on Mon Aug 12 20:07:29 2019

problem raised by addon <unknown>
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 48, in loadAddons
File "<string>", line 37, in importAndCreateInstance
  File ".\common\__init__.py", line 141, in <module>
  File ".\common\sceneryAddOn.py", line 4, in <module>
  File ".\common\sceneryAddOnMulti.py", line 6, in <module>
  File ".\common\collisions.py", line 3, in <module>
  File ".\common\aircraftData.py", line 12, in <module>
Couatl.DecryptionError: magic number mismatch
{}

I tried to use FSDT live update more than 10 times in the row, restarted Windows multiples times, and even tried to uninstall and reinstal GSX using last setup.exe downloaded at the FSDT site... with no result.

Could you please help on this ?

And what the sake is this mismatching "magic number" ?

The only possible reason for that error, is that your firewall/antivirus is blocking the Live Update, or blocking some files and let pass others, which is the same so, you just have to be sure your antivirus is configured to exclude the *whole* Addon Manager folder from scanning, and your firewall is not blocking downloads into that folder and/or is not blocking the updater itself.

Hello Virtuali
I only use Windows Defender, and I configured it to exclude the whole addon manager folder, as instructed. I double checked that.
And my firewall is disabled.

I tried to update via Live update a dozen times : it always detects exactly 370 tasks to do, and downloads the same files each time... Very strange.

Sorry, but by reading this forum, I can see that I'm not alone in my case, and in the past, every updates went Ok before on my system. So what ?

Tonight, I'll try again to uninstall GSX, then I'll clean my system by erasing every file and folder linked to the program, included my registry. And I'll reinstall GSX with the setup.exe provided on your website. I'll keep you informed.

Thank you

HR

you are not alone, for the obvious reason that, each time we have an update:

- Some antivirus just automatically blocks our files "because they are new"

OR

- Some firewalls blocks the download of the correct updates

OR

- a combination of the two

You did not read my last post : WD cannot block your files, because I excluded the whole addon manager folder, as instructed. And my firewall is disabled.

Before you ask, my VC++ files are up to date (uninstalled all versions and reinstalled using the proper links), and my Simconnect is alive and well.

I just tell you that your live update manager does not seem to do its job : it keeps downloading the same files again and again and changes nothing to the fact that GSX keeps crashing as soon as I launch P3D4.5. It never happened before.

So, obviously, something is wrong with this specific version of the software, OR with my system. Or a combination of the two, as you say.

Anyway. Don't be bothered with this issue : one can live without GSX.

Have a nice day !

This is neither strange or wrong. That's just the number of *possible* tasks to be checked, but it doesn't mean all of them require an update. The actual check for outdated files will be done while the tasks are being performed.

You did not read my last post : WD cannot block your files, because I excluded the whole addon manager folder, as instructed. And my firewall is disabled.

I obviously read it, but I cannot possibly be sure you did everything correctly.

And it wouldn't be the first time an antivirus blocks files even when the folder is excluded from scanning, I witnessed this personally on a user system doing a remote assistance section, the antivirus was so bugged that, even if the file were excluded from scanning, the antivirus own Window service was still blocking them in the background, because they were flagged as threats *before* the user create the exclusion list. It was a bug, of course.

And, I cannot possibly exclude the chance you have *another* security software which is acting like a firewall or antivirus which is still blocking the download, like an anti-spyware, anti-adware, or something like that.

Plain Windows Defender doesn't have any problems with our files.

While you can say if they have been installed, you cannot be sure they are installed correctly and not corrupted of conflicting by themselves, which happens sometimes.

That's not what it does, of course. If you already have the latest version of a file, it will NOT be downloaded again. If it does, it simply means you DO NOT have the latest version of the file. And the only possible reason why the updater cannot get the latest version of the file, is either the antivirus OR the firewall are blocking the download, so you are stuck with the old version and, each time you run the updated again, it will try to download it again, failing because that software interfering with it.

If with "crashing", you mean the error report about the magic number you reported before, it's not really a crash. It's an indication that you have an OUTDATED version of some files which are required for it to run properly. There are no other reasons why this message could possibly come out.

If the updater keeps downloading stuff, it's a clear indication something is blocking the download. Normally, you shouldn't see *any* files being downloaded, if you run the Updater twice in a row, for example.

Since there isn't anything wrong with this version of the software, otherwise we would be flooded by *thousands* of similar reports, the only explanation left, is that something wrong in your system, otherwise it would happen to everybody, not just you and a couple of other users.

Hi Guys

I seam to have found a solution to the above issue.

I have been having this issue for a while now since the last update same as everyone above my error was as follows:
=========================================
couatl v3.2 (build 4231)
panic log started on Mon Aug 12 14:29:54 2019

problem raised by addon <unknown>
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 48, in loadAddons
File "<string>", line 37, in importAndCreateInstance
Couatl.DecryptionError: magic number mismatch
{}
===========================================
Tried doing all suggestions of this discussion, disable antivirus (windows defender),   make exclusion again (which was already done prior), uninstall, re-install, download files again from GSX website install again etc etc.

Then I see that we mention several times above files being blocked somewhere or through antivirus or other software etc.

Long story short the solution….

I then thought, what is files are being blocked somehow by ISP / router or similar.
I disconnected my normal internet connection and connected my PC to my cell phone to access a different service provider (ISP) on my cellular network and to my surprise the files downloaded again and this time when you try again to run the update it does not download anything else (all files updated). Started P3D 4.5 and all was working.

The interesting part that I don’t have an explanation and I leave it here for debate is that when I go back to my original ISP and run the “updater” it again tries to download the files again and again nonstop every time I press update. I have to go back to cell phone connection for it to update the one single time again and works again when starting P3D.
Don’t have an explanation for this last part.

Not "as everyone". There was just ONE other user with this error, and with your report, now there are only two.

Of course it works, when all files are downloaded with no interference!

One of the following explanations might be possible:

- Your regular ISP might do some kind of file caching to save bandwidth, and maybe the cache time is too high, so we updated some files faster than your ISP cache expiry time.

OR

- The cellphone ISP might have an entirely different network routing, that resulted in the updater getting a file from a different Cloudflare server ( there are 170 of them around the world, but we don't have any control on how they are chosen and how or how fast they are updated), as if you were located in a different place.

By in any case, if you see the same files downloaded over and over, you can be sure something is wrong with the connection.
