Latest GSX has stopped working!
« on: November 07, 2016, 05:00:52 pm »
Can anybody throw any light on the reason this product has ceased to function?
Ctrl+Shift+F!2 or just Ctrl+F12 does absolutely nothing.
I've checked my Add On Manager and all is well and activated.
I've de-activated and removed both GSX and Couati engine - downloaded and installed the latest build and installed with no AV or Defender/Firewall.
Does it rely on a specific version of SDK?
I currently have 10.0.61259 and the Acceleration SDK.
I don't have an error report because it doesn't start properly.

Many thanks,

Malcolm,
Birmingham UK. :(

You don't say if you still had the Couatl and GSX menus too.

I don't have any menus now as the product has been de-activated!
Prior to that I did have access to the aircraft settings and the ability to reset and reload the airport cache.

Best regards,

Malcolm.

You mean uninstalled ?

Activation doesn't have any effect on the menus: if you deactivate (which wasn't needed in your case, since your problem didn't had anything to do with activation) GSX, it will not "stop" working, it will revert to Trial mode, so it will work ( in full ) at the 3 Trial airports, and all FSDT airports.

In any case, this thread here indicates all known causes for the missing menus for the Addon Manager or Couatl:

Try to follow all suggestions, one at the time.

I've worked through the suggestions in the link provided but still have problems.
I can see "Addon Manager" but not "Couati powered products".
If I press Ctrl+F12 I get a set of traffic cones around the aircraft but no menu.
I've deleted and re-installed both VS2005 and SimConnect files as per instructions.
I do not use Internet Explorer, I have MS Edge as per Windows 10 - but I use Firefox if it helps.

Best regards,

Malcolm.

The "Couatl powered products" is now called "Couatl Settings", and there should be a GSX menu too.

If you see the Traffic Cones, it's clear that GSX IS RUNNING so, it's not possible that you cannot see Couatl and GSX under the "Addons" menu because, the lack of these menus means GSX hasn't started, which clearly cannot be the case, if you see the Traffic Cones after pressing the GSX Hotkey.

That's a problem with either the antivirus or some of your system libraries missing/corrupted, see here for a discussion on the possible solutions:

Thanks for the information.
Looks like I'm going to have to "bite the bullet" and reinstall Windows as the repair option failed.
I might as well do FSX while I'm at it as a lot of dependencies will be erased at the same time.
Feel free to close this issue and hopefully I won't need to bother you again  ;).

Many thanks,

Malcolm.
