No more FSX sessions with the latest GSX
« on: June 21, 2016, 11:00:09 pm »
Hello Umberto!

Let me start with saying I am a long-time fan and user of your products. I have GSX as well as most of your (and Flightbeam's) products.
The problems I had so far were few and none made my sim stop working. Until today.

I have recently downloaded and installed the latest GSX version. When I tried to call GSX boarding, I got errors and finally a prompt to reinstall the latest Addon Manager.
Which I did. And... bang! My FSX won't start with an unspecific error report:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:   APPCRASH
  Application Name:   fsx.exe
  Application Version:   10.0.61637.0
  Application Timestamp:   46fadb14
  Fault Module Name:   StackHash_0a9e
  Fault Module Version:   0.0.0.0
  Fault Module Timestamp:   00000000
  Exception Code:   c0000005
  Exception Offset:   ffb901b7
  OS Version:   6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
  Locale ID:   1033
  Additional Information 1:   0a9e
  Additional Information 2:   0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
  Additional Information 3:   0a9e
  Additional Information 4:   0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

I tried to launch the sim countless times. In most cases it didn't launch. In a few it did but shut down quickly (with the same error message).
I have tried to redownload and reinstall both GSX (no joy) and later the standalone Addon Manager (no joy again).
I have come here to the FSDT fora and read some suggestions to uninstall GSX and also confirm uninstalling the Addon Manager and the Couatl.
After I did it I decided to try launching my sim. This time... no problem! I was able to fly two longer sessions with no problems at all.
So I installed the latest GSX again and... the FSX fatal error story is back again.

What can I do? I am desperate to get my FSX back together with GSX (it is such an awesome add-on when it works).
I am attaching the file I think you may find useful.

By the way I am on FSX Acceleration and Windows 7 64.

Reinstall it NOW, and be sure you have the antivirus off.

Dear Umberto,

Let me report I reinstalled again, had a 20-minute FSX session and everything worked just fine.  :)
I don't know how you did it but it felt like childhood's memories of magicians.

Thank you so much for being very quick and helpful!
Hope to see more GSX functions (e.g. cargo), a new version of LSZH and more European sceneries from you.

Have a great evening,
Rafal

I have no idea why it works now and it didn't worked before. I start to suspect that, the first time we update a file, some antivirus will block it by default, just because it's "new = unknown to them".

Just to confirm how defective antivirus can be these days: I realized my FSUIPC was one version behind, so I downloaded it again from the official site and, guess what, Windows defender REMOVED THE INSTALLER!! I had to exclude the folder where I downloaded, otherwise the antivirus won't even let me unzip it! It said Install_FSUIPC4.exe is a Trojan...
