Runway Light Issue
« on: February 01, 2015, 08:40:31 pm »
Having issues w/ runway lights (this is from FSDT KLAX) - using REX 4 Textures and I have tried adjusting runway lighting settings, but it does not seem to have any impact.  Using NVIDIA graphics card and have rolled back my drivers.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Of course they don't, since KLAX uses a custom method to create runway lights, so it's not affected by any setting designed to change the default runway lights system.

I can't see anything wrong with your screenshot, other than a bit high bloom effect.

I don't have any idea if REX would change the default bloom effect, of if another 3rd party product you have installed might also affect bloom, and you don't even say which sim you use (FSX or P3D, which has a different bloom effect), but of course you can always turn off bloom, if you find the effect to be too much.

This may be a better example of my issue - two airports w/ the same view, but different runway lighting effects.  Both are FSDT (KORD on top and KLAX bottom) - can you control the bloom for an individual airport?  Thank you for your help!

You can't. You either turn if on or off.

In P3D, bloom is controlled by HDR and it's more visible than FSX, so we had to find a setting that would look reasonable both in FSX and P3D.

About your comparison between KORD and KLAX, they use different ways of making runway lights, KORD is default, KLAX is custom. Again, there's nothing wrong with your KLAX screenshot, and in reality a proper effect might be something between default and custom, since default lights are far too dimmed and if I had to choose one, KLAX is way more realistic, even if it's not perfect.

But as I've said, if you don't like the effect, you can turn off bloom HDR.
