Airports not found in Scenery Library
« on: December 27, 2013, 07:08:11 pm »
Ever since I purchased and installed KJFK v.2 (or so it seems) all my Couatl powered airports will "disappear" from the Scenery Library. Actually they're still listed in the scenery library, but the software doesn't seem to "know" that.  So I have to click on Edit in the library and reclick the folders to "reinstall" them.  This will last for a while then they will revert to "active but not installed in the scenery library" even though they are.  This applies to Fsdreamteam. Flightbeam and Cloud 9 airports. I was about to purchase the Dallas airport, but now I hesitate until this is resolved.

The airport will surely not "disappear" by themselves. But, if you are accustomed to selectively turn on/off areas in the Scenery Library, for example to turn off areas you don't need for a flight, you can't do that with our products, because the Scenery Library is read when FSX starts so, you need to restart FSX to make your changes effective.

If this is not the case, nobody has reported such problem so far in a way you are describing it, some users have permission/access problems, but that would only affect GSX, not the scenery itself.

Do you have another add-on that reads/writes the scenery.cfg ? Perhaps that one is getting access to the file, and has locked it preventing our software to access it at the same time. That would be the only explanation I can think of.

Also, be sure you don't run FSX in Compatibility mode. That will change all your file locations, so the scenery.cfg used will be a different one.

Thank you for your quick response.  You are exactly right.  I had unchecked the airports in the scenery library. When I rechecked them and restarted FSX all airports were fine.  I have had KJFK v.1, KORD and LKAX for a couple of years and I thought I had been able to check and uncheck them in the library without having to restart FSX. Apparently I was incorrect.  At any rate, thank you for your help. :)
