GSX-addon unknown
« on: February 06, 2012, 06:49:22 pm »
Downloaded and installed yesterday to give it a try.
Windows 7/64 FSX Gold.
In the addon Taskline of the FSX both, addon manager and cualtel are to be seen.  Live updates are executed.

CTRL/F12 ok
Gate select ok
Follow me - The addon "unknown" is causing the cualtel.........

In the Appdata roaming appears the following message:

couatl v2.0 (build 2290)
panic log started on Sun Feb 05 12:10:26 2012
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "couatl\common\youcontrol.py", line 122, in show
  File "couatl\GSX\__init__.py", line 108, in perform
  File "couatl\GSX\__init__.py", line 452, in prepareGate
  File "couatl\GSX\assistanceServices\__init__.py", line 740, in setGate
  File "couatl\common\criticalsection.py", line 23, in _synchronized

  File "couatl\common\modelCustomization.py", line 309, in getModelForCouatlType
common.modelCustomization.NoModelInstalled: No model of type BaggageTractor is currently installed

Where do I get this Baggage Tractor from resp.where should it have been? I have no idee when and how I should have deleted one.
Any idea?
Thanks
Bernd

Just learned, by deleting GSX, that the default carriges were reinstalled. What means, that GSX works with "own" vehicles.
So, if in my case, GSX refuses to work, because a certain baggage carriage is missing, it must be possible to solve the problem.
In which file this carriage is supposed to be?
Am very much interested to use the program, but without beeing able to test it does not make sense.
Any idea?

I repeat and confirm, this message simply can't happen, if you installed GSX normally, since it obviously come with everything that is needed to work.

It's possible *another* addon has corrupted your FSX.CFG folder, removing a whole Simobject paths ? Check your FSX.CFG at %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX, and look all the lines containing this:

SimObjectsPath=

Be sure there's a path listed for the Simobject\Misc folder, and all the numbers are in sequence. If there isn't, it'a mistake caused by another addon product, GSX doesn't touch that line, because it's default with any FSX installation.

Hi Umberto,
thanks for your reply, which I just saw.
Checked with the original FSX Gold and found 105 items in both as far as simobjects are concerned, but only 35 items in MISC instead of 58 items on the original DVD.
Apart from Catering Half and Catering Man, the nhole FSDT items are missing.
I have no ides what caused this trouble.
I had once installed AES but deleted it.
I have Aerosoft, Orbx, UK2000 Airports but I do not remember ever being asked to delete such objects.
Question, is it wise to copy and paste the original MISC file?
I tried GSX with the default FSX which installed testwise on my notebook, and I liked what I have seen.
Is it advisable to change the MISC files?

Sorry for bothering you again.

This means you haven't installed GSX, and the fact you are only seeing those two folders, seems to indicate you installed the Stand-Alone Addon Manager but not the main GSX installer, because a couple of files in those folder were updated and downloaded by the Addon Manager.

Reinstall GSX using its full installer, and they surely must reappear. GSX doesn't need anything from the default Simobjects folder.

Sorry, did so, but still the same result.
GSX works well with default EDDM on my notebook, but not with my cockpit setup (EDDM Mega X). Always the same message, although I had deinstalled GSX completely.
All items are there and the same like on the notebook.
Obviously an addon (my FSX plus addon installation is about 400 GB) conflicts GSX!?
Sorry.

[Main]
User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter, MyPlanes, woai
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\MyPlanes
SimObjectPaths.7=SimObjects\woai

Inthe SimObjects/Misc folder 25 FSDT objects are listed (total 58).

Baggage related: Loader; Tractor, Van, Waggon.

In the FSX/fsdreamteam/cuatl/gsx/assistanceServices a baggageTrain.pye is listed.

I am not a software expert, but I can not see any difefrence to the notebook, were gsx works.

Forgotb to ask?
Is the baggage train a stand alone model or is it "built" with tractor and waggon?. Could that be the explanation?

In the FSX/fsdreamteam/cuatl/gsx/assistanceServices a baggageTrain.pye is listed.

That's not what's missing. What's missing it's Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_BaggageTractor OR the sim.cfg inside of it which, as I've said, it's just not possible it could be missing, not after a full GSX installation.

The baggage tractor is there!
I have 25 FSDT items listed. Is this the correct number ?
There is absolutely no differnce betwenen my notebook and my PC, except, that the latter works with EDDM Mega, the notebook with EDDM default (I only installed FSY on the notebook testwise, because I wanted to see, weather I made a mistake. but this obviously not the case. I even took the same download on the PC like on the notebook, after I had deinstalled the first time.
On the PC AES lite had been working. But I do not use it any more. And it is not activated.
On the notebook AES is/was not installed.
