Shiny F-18's
« on: January 04, 2012, 08:31:18 am »
Hey hey guys, After several PM replies  ::)

I decided I might throw this question public, so that maybe someone with more painting experience could take a swing at it.

I am running the latest Sludge Hornet, With the default textures for said release. I've never liked the amount of gloss that a grey fleet bird should have. So, I've deleted all the specular maps, Thinking that should remedy the problem. However, It doesn't. So my question to this forums is. Does anybody know how to get a "Matte-Grey" Scheme. Or just to take the gloss away. On the Blues paints, yeah that's fine. They're demo birds. But on a VFA-XXX Lowvis bird. Just shouldn't be shiny.

Thanks for reading guys.

Nike619,
That's easy peasy  ;D

When working on my FCLP repaint I had to create a set of specular maps to get rid of that shininess. Just take them and copy to your VFA-XXX Low-vis folder. Due to some FSX specifics you won't see pure matt, however there will be no more that huge gloss.  ;)

FYI. This FCLP repaint is bundled with my FCLP missions packs, available at Avsim.com
