GSX menu will not load
« on: September 19, 2024, 08:53:21 pm »
Hi.

I have noticed over the last few weeks that my GSX menu will not load immediately. The menu window opens but displays spinning circles and gives the message "the GSX menu has not loaded, please wait", or something similar. Usually the menu will load after a few minutes, but today it would not load at all. I tried restarting Couatl, but this made no difference. I tried to shut down the menu window several times, but it constantly reappeared after a few seconds. I was forced to minimise the window so that I could set up my aircraft. Eventually the menu window stated that the menu had failed, but may start later. I was forced to load the aircraft and depart without GSX. Once I had landed I decided to try starting the menu one last time, and this time it loaded. It had only taken 1.5 hours to open!

I can confirm that my whole Addon Manager directory is excluded in my Kaspersky antivirus software.

Please advise how this problem can be resolved. Thank you.

I have updated to the latest GSX version and am still having the same problem. The GSX menu refuses to load. I have restarted Couatl, but this made zero difference. I do not currently have FSLTL running. GSX is useless if the menu will not load. Please can Umberto give some advice, as I had no response to my posting a week ago. Thank you.

Same problem here since the update.
And when I arrive at the gate, I often get the pushback menu instead of the normal menu with disembarking.
Very ennoying.

Check if your Couatl64_MSFS.exe is of the correct size, which is about 8MB. If it's not, possibly smaller, it's likely cause by the antivirus on your router, that might have mistakenly detected it as a threat, and replaced it with a text or html file you might read, which would confirm the problem.

Lots of routers use an antivirus from Trend Micro so, as soon we learn about this problem, we submitted the file to Trend Micro and they immediately reclassified it as "Safe" but there might be other routers using other antivirus we might not know.

A week ago I thought I had solved the problem by going into the FSDT Installer, unlinking GSX and then linking again, and then running the Check. I was then able to load the GSX menu. However that was a false dawn, and today the problem is back. I have the latest version 3.1.9. Once again the GSX menu failed to load during my departure. I tried restarting Couatl, but this made no difference whatsoever. When I landed (2 hours later) the menu loaded immediately.

I have checked Couatl64_MSFS.exe, and it is 8.26 MB. As I stated at the start of this thread, the whole Addon Manager directory is excluded from my antivirus package, so the suggestion of my antivirus being the cause seems unlikely.

This is becoming very frustrating as it is happening on nearly every flight. Please could you advise on further solutions.

I am very disappointed to see that there has been no response from someone at FSDT since my last posting 11 days ago. I have done another flight today (the first since my last posting) and I had exactly the same problem. No GSX menu until I had landed. This is now on 3 consecutive flights.

The only suggestion you have given so far is regarding antivirus, but if you read my first posting it should be clear that this is unlikely to be the cause. If it were an antivirus issue, why does the menu load on landing but not on departure? Couatl is clearly running as I am getting the menu popup window, but something is causing the menu to fail. I would be grateful if someone could respond with a solution to getting the menu to run every time right from the start. Thank you.

Thanks for that link. Interesting that others are clearly having the same issue. I have reduced passenger density in GSX and adjusted a few settings in FSLTL. I will see how this affects GSX.

It is strange that this issue has only cropped up recently, and I have not made any changes to my MSFS setup. Which leads me to think that something has changed in GSX to cause this...
