Couatl engine hasn't started
« on: October 19, 2021, 05:06:40 pm »
At first a warmly hello to everyone in the forum
I know there are  a lot of existing posts regarding this issue and I read them all but none of the suggestions worked.

More or less ten days ago, I started my Sim (Prepare3D, V 5.1) and I got the message, that an update for GSX is available. I stopped the sim and started the Live update.
And at this point, my problems have started:
- Although the program downloaded the .exe files, the process stopped. So I searched for a solution and one of the suggestion was, to install GSX from scratch. And I did.
- After installing I started the Sim and I wanted to register my installation through the addon-manager, but I got the error messages as per subject.
-Again, I tried to fix the problem and searched for a solution. And I followed all the proposals in the various posts.

- The folder Addon manager is excluded from antivirus scan (I use NORTON 360)
- I deinstalled/reinstalled the VC++ libraries
- I executed the simconnect.msi

And now I have no more idea how to fix the problem.
Hopefully someone can help me.

I attach the couatl.log

Thanks in advance
Erwin

attach the couatl.log

The log shows you haven't got the latest .exe, likely because the antivirus has mistakenly blocked it.

- Configure the antivirus to add the whole Addon Manager to the antivirus Exclusions

- Run the FSDT Live Update again

Hello,

thank you very much for the quick reply,
Although I added the "Addon manager" to the scan-exclusion list before, I did it as advised again.
Additionally I shut down my AV completely and the "common" Windows firewall as well.
At first I only executed the live updater - now success.
Then I installed the GSX L2 again and executed the Live updater - no success.
I know, that in more than 90% of the issuses the problem is in front of the screen, but I have really no idea, what happend.
And please note, I am only a user  :-[

Which is what I asked to do.

Shouldn't make any difference, because the Live update performed at the end of the installation is exaclty the same as the one you run yourself but, after installing, a Windows restart might be required.

Hello,

the problem has been solved.

In order to support other users, which may have the same problem like me, these are the steps which I did:
- backup the content of personal configurations of airports, located in %appdata%/Roaming/Virtuali/GSX
- removing GSX through control panel
- manually removing all files related to virtuali (%programdata% and %appdata%) except the registry entries
- restart
- shutting down Antivirus
- download the latest version from the FSDT server
- installing GSX L2
- restart
- running (in my case P3D) the sim
It works  :)
- running antivirus and excluding "Addon Manager" from scanning

@ virtuali: Thank you for your support, and by the way, GSX L2 is really excellent.
