Difference in Fuel Load (Gallons / Pounds)
« on: December 22, 2009, 02:36:20 pm »
I was looking through older posts but didn't find an answer.

Issue:

If I use the FSX menu to set the fuel load and I fill every tank up to 20% (in the Gallons column) just as an example .
Shouldn't I expect that the values in the lbs column of corresponding tanks (like left wing and right wing) are about the same?
The values of my F/A-18 in pounds are completely different.

Anybody knows why or is it just my aircraft which is standard FSX Acc. Pack?

The capacity of each tank is different so the same percentage of each tank will represent a different amount of fuel (gallons or pounds).

Thanks for answering. I thought so but I didn't find a reason why the left and the right tanks have different capacities.

I think FSX has generic names for the tanks, so the tanks in the Acceleration Hornet are not properly labeled. The tanks labeled as Left, Left Aux., Right and Right Aux. are actually all located on the longitudinal axis of the aircraft, so they can have different weights (in the real Hornet they are numbered as Tanks 1,2,3,4). The Left and Right tip are internal wing tanks, and as such they have equal weights.
