Title: LAs Vegas airport alignment
Post by: bradrcfii on September 15, 2012, 10:53:50 pm
My airport alingnment seems off by about 5 degrees.  It seems rotated.  I also notice some dramatic un-natural elvelation changes at about 4 miles from the airport.

My addon manager shows the applciation as active and installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Brad

Sounds like you have another scenery active in the area, US Cities Las Vegas perhaps?

Not necessarily in the library, you need to search for bgl files related to KLAS.

I had a look at the FSdream file.  It had two files KLAS and KLAS v2.  Is the problem there?

I renstalled te KLAS scenery.  The offset problem I have is with r19's.  I am flying PMDG with the navigrapgh database.  The final approach to the 19's are offset but the courses to the 25's are right on leading me to think the problem may be with navigraph?  However, I still have the strange elevation changes close to the airport.

If you think the problem may be navigraph, you can check the information they give you with the real world information given here (http://www.airnav.com/airport/KLAS).  As for being offset, your aircraft is lining up with the ILS beacon, which is frequently off to the right or left of a runway.  I still think you've got some scenery active causing the elevation issues, a screenshot or two would help.

How do I look for other scenery that may be causing the problem?

thanks

I was wrong about the offset for the 19 runways.  The approach is offset. I have never seen an offset rnav before so I jumped to an asumption.

But that still leaves the cliffs within a few miles of the runway on the north side that are not there in RL.

Thanks,

That's a very well known problem in FSX, which can't be easily solved, see here for an explanation:
