Hey Guys,
I am wondering if it is possible to add more types of bags?
-
What do you mean? Like new colors or just different shaped bags?
-
Then Umberto would have to remake all the animation involved getting them up and down the belt and into and out of the carts. I think what we have is sufficient.
-
I've been trying to hunt down the textures for the bags so that I can recolor them, mainly get rig of the red ones and make them all a more obscure shade of something darker so they are harder to tell the difference between.
-
Apparently Bruce is the self proclaimed authority on what is sufficient.
If there are plans to add different colored bags such as more common colors of black, beige, brown. Please let us know.
-
There can only be two colors. So, the best we can do easily, is to replace Red/Blue with Color1/Color2, let's say Black/Brown.

Umberto, can you give me the location where the texture files are for the two bags. I've searched thru the Simobjects/GroundVehicles folders and /Misc folders and cant seem to locate it.
-
all files named GSX_Baggage.dds and GSX_Baggage_LM.dds in the following folders:
Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_Baggage_Loader\texture.01
Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_Baggage_Loader\texture.blue
Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_Baggage_Loader\texture.green
Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_Baggage_Loader\texture.lightblue
Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_Baggage_Loader\texture.orange
Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_Baggage_Loader\texture.red
Simobjects\Misc\FSDT_Baggage_Loader\texture.yellow

Thanks Umberto.

Is this something I must change on my own or are there any plans to offer the separate color variation in the future? I think black/brown would be great but maybe some people would fight me on this since they prefer to keep the blue/red.
-
We might change it in the next update, hoping people wouldn't complain they liked the red/blue more...
-
I personally can't wait for the new colors. Never seen red and blue suitcases at airports anyways.
-
Unless we could do a forum poll to take a vote I think the majority would prefer a black/brown to red/blue but I could be wrong.
I will leave the poll thing up to you Umberto. Many thanks for considering this change.

As a matter of fact, I am. ;D

Welcome to the forums :D
I do like the idea of making it black/brown. Of course what we have is sufficient because GSX is incredible and it's hard to complain about it, but if the color change is something that is being considered, I vote black/brown.
-
Black and brown would have no contrast going up or down the loader, you couldn't tell them apart.
-
I think the color of the bags is fine as it is right now. Black and brown also does not have my preference. If they do get changed, I would have to change them back manually by adjusting the textures. Or make it an option so people can choose what they want.

Yes, but if we went with a tan/gray combo it would still have contrast and look decent at night also. Just throwing some ideas out there for discussion.
-
I personally travel with a bright orange suitcase in real life. When I saw all the red suitcases in GSX it made me smile cos they looked just slighty off colour compared to my suitcase and I could easily imagine mine amongst them. :P
-
Maybe a solution would be to have a "bank" of bags like duffel, some boxes, strollers etc. and then have the engine randomly pick some? So like what they do with the caterers or servicemen? I don't know if it's possible, but just a thought.
Also, Bruce, I think your age is probably getting to you :D I think we'd be able to see the brown bags on the loader.

If it was that easy, we would have already done it, long ago...the issue is, the baggage animation is very tricky and complex, and is tied to the man handling it, and is also synchronized with the baggage train, since a bag start its life as hierarchically linked to the conveyor belt bone, then it's passed in the hands of the man that picks it up, then it's passed to the wagon.
In fact, with the container pallets, we made it more flexible, but it was easier, since nobody has to touch the pallet, so it can be a separate objects that can move on its own, and thus having multiple liveries easily.
As I've said, we might have two different colors fairly easily, but not many variations at the same time.

I didn't say you wouldn't see them, I said there would be no contrast between them, so under certain lighting conditions, they'd all appear the same color. I think your age is getting to you, might need your eyes examined. ;) :D

Got them examined for my PPL and they were 20/20 ;). Is that really you in your profile pic? If so, you are one of the most tech-savvy oldtimers I have ever seen! Bravo :D
-
20/20, eh? Is that with or without your glasses? ;D Yes, that picture is really me, and my oldtimer tech savvy comes from a two year college, with an associates degree in computer science. ;)

Without ;) That's great about your college! Glad to know that there are people your age who are great with technology.
