So cool...  ;) Where did U get the A330 from? and is it Wilco?

Oh no... The Wilco model is not accurate at all... It's the Overland.

Cheers!

Love these shots! Who's 717 is that?

The 717 is from Historic Jets Group. Available for FS9 and FSX. Great external model. Better than the JCA model. But no VC.

Hi Virtuali,

I just had a scarry apiffany. Could this scenery be the last FS9 users see from FSDT?

I know that KLAX is undergoing a whole new features process that may make it difficult to backport KLAX to FS9. My question is, will you use the same new res feature for (we hope to get) the 2nd Hawaiian pack as well? Might this pack be the last scenery from FSDT implimented to FS9?

Personally, FSDT has proven to be the most innovative scenery developer in terms of new process, ideas, and features in scenery development. I really believe that if it can be done, you and the team will find a way. I am counting on you guys. And thanks again for the sweat the team puts out. I had been hoping for Hawaiian airports since FS2002...  :)

I really do hope to see more airports for FS9...

We'll just try to convert KLAX for FS9 and, if the result will be at least as the Cloud9 version, we'll release it.

That's sounds great Virtuali! Maybe I have high expectations in computer technology. The $2,500 PC I bought earlier this year still seems to struggle with FSX with my prefered settings that make me happy. Thus I am waiting to try again. I will always be a customer of FSDT. My love for flying is just too strong. And I am getting my future stepson into flight simming so he will be spoiled with all the thousands of addons he is getting when I hand it off to him. I expect one more year... By then I would have recoverd from the weadding expenses...  ;) Looking forward to KLAX!!

newmanix, nice shots you have there. :)

Thanks, I will add more soon. I have to remember to actually fly!! I just got Munich and Billund yesterday as well as the Hawaiian pack and I haven't actually flown into any of them yet...   :P

It's something about FSDT sceneries that make me want to just take pictures of it. It really is art!!

DAMN I really love these small airports from FSDT. I really hope small airports will have more considerations in the future!

Very nice shots, newmanix! :)

Regarding the FS9 talk; I only fly FS9 at the moment... partially due to the huge amount of addons I've bought for it over the years, and also because it furfills all the needs for me! Honestly, FSX doesn't really add anything FS9 can't give me at the moment - for me at least...

Also, I'm very surprised about what FS9 can deliver... Just look at FSDT's sceneries and the FS9 shots of Fligthbeam's KSFO scenery... just amazing IMO!

I just hope, that FSDreamTeam can (once again) use their amazing skills, and find a way to make FS9 airports... :) Of course I understand the business/economical aspects of their choices... But there's always hope... ;)

I honestly don't see FS9 as "a dying flightsim" - I still think it has a lot to offer... Granted the underlying technique is old (and perhaps outdated) - but many of the airports released (e.g sceneries by FlyTampa, FSDreamTeam, FlightBeam, Aerosoft etc) looks very realistic...

Just my opinion, thanks!

Well said and I agree!

The biggest thing for me at the moment is performance. I remember when FS9 first came out and the situation was similar. FS9 was just as difficult to get an affordable system that could run at optimum performance. Now that I have a flight sim that can do that all I need, I am happy. One on the few reasons I am not fully FSX yet is that I am still very happy with the performance and results I get. I have a lot of HEAVY system draining add-ons that run simultaneously and everything goes like clockwork. I also have FSX and I do enjoy it on a limited biases. FSX has a lot of visual quality and features fs9 does not. But the lack of performance is not worth the trade off. Thus I stick to VFR flying in FSX.

FS9 I enjoy on a completely unlimited biases. There are a lot of kids whose mommy and daddy purchases their toys for them and they think the world is free everything they get in life is free. So they have trouble understanding why so many people stick with FS9. They don’t understand rent, car notes, insurance, food etc. So they make comments like FS9 an outdated sim or only 12 people use it etc. That is how I know those are the kids. I don't have the luxury of calling up my mommy and saying "can you buy me KDFW please?" Although, I could...

The adults usually respond differently. At least most do. And keep in mind, FS is not my only hobby. When I got my $5,000 bonus earlier this year, yes, I could have purchased a new kick ass system. But I don’t mean my ass to get fat sitting in front of the computer all damn day. I have a life, I have other hobbies. Besides, I sit on my ass already 8 hours at work. So half went to the new computer and half went to my Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5. I spent a hundred dollars on FS add-ons this week alone. Am I aware the the mass population is leaving FS9? Yes. I do. Will I ever completely switch to FSX? Perhaps, same as I switched from FS2002 and the sim before that. But I am sure by the time I do, and I get that kickass system, everyone would have switched to Spaceship simulator 5050 and get on my case about still flying airplanes. And by then who knows... Aerosoft may have new simulation or Microsoft by 2011.

All I know, is FS9 is dependable. Runs great on my laptop too! And that it what’s important to me. And I will lobby for as many FS9 add-ons as I can because in the end, it's what keeps me happy. And I have nothing against FSX users. I don’t make stupid negative FSX comments only my experiences. At the moment, they both make my happy in their own ways... I play modern warefare2 and I play Counter Strike Source. One of the two is VERY old but I love them both as both are fun. Same in the FS world.

I wish the mouth running FSX users would understand that. I am only refering to the mouth runners. There are several FSX users that are very respectful. Bottom line is FSX users have nothing to loose here regarding FS9 development. They are getting their products. We all love the same hobby regardless of what sim you use. Even those who like X-Plane. The bottom line is we all love the same hobby and that should be enough for us to respect eachother.

Am I the only one who finds it entertaining that 50% of these discussions go into an fsx/fs9 discussion.  I personally respect both parties (although I use fsx :P ), but this discussion has been exhausted in my opinion and all the arguments have been made, and now we are just rehashing the old arguments.  IDK, just my opinion

Which is a very valid opinion you have but when users make anti FS9 inflammatory comments out of the blue such as Mr. yankeesji, it does rally the people he is disrespecting. Which I am sure is more than 12.  ;)

Even if he's joking... The joke got old a very long time ago. I should be able to post my FS9 screenshots without having to read that. If someone wants to attack me personally. Cool. I'm not made of China, i'm not gonna break. But the FS9/X attacking is just damn old we have all had enough already.

Agreed, this forum should be about the pics you took (which in my opinion, were great ;) ), not about the flame war that is fs9 vs fsx

Man you are on fire!! great shots newmanix how you like the cls 767?  :)

Um... well... It's a very good and simple aircraft but there are some major bugs they need to work out. The most recent is the VC lighting. At night, the dome light doesn't work and the gauges backlights don't work and the panel light is controlled by the landing light. So it's pratically darkness... There is I guess a temp fix but I dont have the energy for all the .CFG edits required and it still may not fix the issue...

I have my fantasy repaint in the works for it though.... it's not finished. Will be uploaded to Avsim soon...

It really is a very good product and I do recommend it. They just released another service pack today for other bugs. Hopefully the lights will get fixed soon too. I already did a PHNL-KPDX with it. A longer flight then normal but I wanted to use the PHNL as there were no other airports yet in the area..

Great shots!  That aircraft looks pretty amazing!

Does posting more icons of a little yellow face puckering his lips mean something special besides just doing one?

It was to emphasize how odd and absurd it was to use it in your posts. ;)

Morn'n All,

Nice pictures folks... This is my next purchase - FS9 - once I get some time - hopefully this weeknd... I'm in a Hawaiin state of mind... I like the MD-90 and DC-10 - I'm guessing they both might be Cantu's - maybe not... I love the classics - if you are flying a Cantu DC-10 it has to be one with a Frank Idone paint job... They look sooo good...

Thanks FSDreamteam !!! I've been looking forward to this one - - - for years...

Regards,
Scott

Thanks a lot guys!! The DC-10 is the CLS payware and the DC9 is the JetCityAircraft payware the 717 (MD Super 90) is from Historic Jets Group. All very nice models. The DC-10 comes with a full VC which I like as I am a VC guy.  :)

Virtuali, I am tired of newmanix and his boyfriend being little whiners over a simple joke.

Why are you trying to douse a fire with gasoline?  If something isn't taken the way you meant it, I've learned through experience that the best thing to do is leave the thread and let them cool off.

And there aren't 12 FS9 users here, there are 13.  LOL

Just completed another successful flight from Hilo with stormy weather setting. only I forgot about the ground problem at Lihue. on final I lost all ground textures again and couldn't even taxi to the gate with my little Epic bouncing around... So I took a screenshot and quit FS... Time for Counter Strike and bed...

Hi newmanix, I like it its very cool and you hear a female voice when activating the autopilot and very nicely detailed, it doesn't handle to well on the ground its very sensitive.  its different from what I normally fly. buts its fun haven't tried her out yet on the Hawaiian islands.

I'm waiting for somebody to do the Embraer Phenom jets love those babes they look so nice! I think there might be a possibly that feelthere is working on one. but its a fun I really like it and it looks sexy lol  ;D the Epic LT looks very cool. I always forget the Epic Victory is for fsx. I would have loved to get the Flight1 Cessna Mustang but the low fps people complain about and the price drive's me away for now.

Trust me. The LT taxi's like a piece of crap.. But it fly's sooo good. I guess that's the trade off... As for the Cessena, again FSX only, expensive, and I have the 400XP which is similar enough for me so I don't think I will ever get that one...

Yes. Fraps is the tool I use to make the shots. I used to use Fraps for videos too but it screws up my frames...

Thanks for the comments guys. More to come!

Not the best trees I have seen sadly... I hope there will be an update for them. Also, Umberto, the runways are dissapearing on the ground and on approach like Lihue used to do... See attachment. This happens with both runways at Kahului.

Have you downloaded the small fix I've posted in the FS9 support forum ?

And, could you please post your screenshots according to the rules explained HERE ?

Awww, Umberto this is supposed to make people want to buy the scenery if they haven't considered the trial download. Consider it an advertisement. No one likes to click links.... I'll just stop posting screenshots from now on.

I'll download the fix. Thanks.

I haven't said you can't post Screenshots, this IS the Screenshots forum.

But we have some rules, and one is not using external servers and inline images inside the post, which makes the whole page too big to read if it's full of pictures, and there are some who pays their internet connection by the traffic so, having such images posted in full size without the ability to choose which one to look at, is not good manners towards those with slower and/or costly connections (like those on 3G, especially now which is more or less vacation time).

The forum has the ability to let you attach an image directly in your post, without having to upload first to an external server, and it has automatic thumbnail generation, which helps keep the page size down, that's what you should use to post screenshots, especially if you want to post many in the same thread.

Well to be honest, im sorry for those minority of people who have those internet issues. But this is the way I like to post my shots. I don't like doing the attachments. So I am happy to put a warning on my screenshot thread so those people don't click here, will save them time and money. I also size all my pictures to fit on all standard monitors and they are viewable easer on moble devices such as my iPhone (which downloads my thread here with the pictures in under 7 seconds on my AT&T wireless)  And if it doesn't hurt FSDT's server then whats the issue?

Basically. If I can't put the warning on the title and post the way I like, then that's okay. I'll just stop posting them. No worries. I love your team's work and want to display it as such. I don't create screenshots for anyone else's work on any sites. Only your work because only FSDT's work I enjoy to create screenshots for...

So perhaps maybe the rule needs to change if warnnigs are posted. I dont hear anyone complaining. Look at how many times this thread was viewed. The same is the case with me Las Vegas thread too. I try to buy the sceneries EARLY after release just so I can share images for those on the fence about buying it and for those as crazy about it like me.

It's not such a small minority.

Up to last week, I was in that situation, since a lighting struck a telephone pole nearby, and I had to connect with 3G for 30 DAYS, the line was restored just yesterday.  Since I need to check all the threads on the forum constantly, many times at day to support users, if it's too slow for me, it also affects lots of other users. Alessandro, our main scenery designer, is now connecting with 3G too.

Of course, the rule was in effect way before I had this accident, but it was during this month I realized how painful is to visit a thread with forced inline images.

Posting a screenshot in fixed size (what is a "standard" monitor ? ), instead of using thumbnails, render exactly the opposite effect. Instead, with thumbnails, you can post at any resolution you want, even higher, and page loading speed wouldn't depend on the image resolution and only marginally by the number of the image you posted.

Basically. If I can't put the warning on the title and post the way I like, then that's okay. I'll just stop posting them. So perhaps maybe the rule needs to change if warnings are posted.

This system would be very cumbersome, because it would force you to calculate for *each* different set of screenshots, what would be the total size, because the loading time depends both on the image resolution, and the number of images posted so, just putting a "warning, large post" wouldn't be useful, also because "large" is subjective, depending which connection you use, and if someone pays by traffic, he would want to know the exact size.

And, of course, if we made the rule more complex as you suggest, asking to put a warning, it would make it more complex for anyone, just because you prefer to first upload to a separate server, getting the URL, link it here, instead of attaching it directly.

If you really don't like using Attachments, at least use the URL tag, instead of the IMG tag, so only those interested in the screenshot will load it, by clicking the link. Which is what you end up with anyway, since I always edit the posts with too many IMG tags into URLs

Okay I understand. At this point it may not matter for me further. Hopefully KLAX will make it to FS9. Besides that and the revamped Zurich, there won't be anything else for me to post screenshots for. So anything further will be done in attachments.

This Hawaii thread is complete.  ;)
