Title: Fenix A320 always prefers belt over ULD
Post by: finnisher on October 30, 2024, 08:38:11 pm
Hello,

I'm having a strange problem with Fenix A320 that when ever boarding/loading the aircraft, GSX wants to always use a belt loader instead of an AKH when ULD type is set to AUTO in Airplane Customization. GSX does use AKHs if I force ULD type to AKH, but using AUTO will always prefer belt.

Is there any reason for this? I noticed the manual says

Code: [Select]
If the airplane is not included in the GSX internal database, the choice will be made depending on the Cargo door height: if it’s less than 2 meters, a Conveyor Belt loader will be used, otherwise the loader will a Cargo loader.
and Fenix A320 has a cargo door height of 1.2 meters. But it's surely in the GSX internal database so GSX should know to use AKHs?

The problem is this is airline specific. US carriers use belt loaders for their A320s, as do Wizz Air, Scoot, and JetStar.

Air Canada, Air France, Austrian, and British Airways, on the other hand, use the ULDs.

Ah, I see! So the only way to "fix it" is to disable AUTO and force AKH?

I do not own the Fenix, but pretty sure that you can go into the GSX menu and under the Aircraft customization make the necessary changes as you wish.

First click on the door where you want the change
After in the popup window take out the auto checkmark
Then select ONLY the AKH in the list. It will be blue, but make sure that the belt, etc is not selected in blue!

If you save it, you will have your custom profile in the virtuali folder for the Fenix

It would appear so. What you could also do is set airframe specific configurations, so A320s that require ULDs use them and A320s that don't use ULDs use the belt loader. Page 77 of the manual has instructions on how to do that.

He was under the impression that the GSX provided configuration for the airplane would have it set like that automatically. I don't know if he was unaware that A320s could be bulk loaded with the belt loader.

Yes, so this exactly what I meant by "forcing" the use of AKHs instead of belt loading. And that's what I have now done.

I knew that the A320 can be belt loaded, I just didn't know that somewhere deep in the GSX core it was hardcoded to prefer bulk over ULDs  ;D
