Title: Ground Handlers

Just an observation and out of curiosity why does the Ground Handler contact the captain and speak to him/her before they are anywhere near the Nose Landing Gear strut intercom (Ground to Flight Deck) connection port?
In real life, the Ground Handler approaches the NLG Strut followed by plugging in his/her communication lead into the connection port then makes verbal contact.
