Title: GSX installation very very slow
Post by: mizuwari on December 25, 2023, 06:50:08 pm
The GSX installation is taking a very long time for some reason, easily over an hour by now. Can this be normal?
Its been on 74% now for 10mins at least, 15 mins on 73%...

This is how much time it takes to install GSX Pro from scratch, on a 1Gbit/s Cable connection, less than 6 minutes including Updates.

So, you should derive from that how it should take on your system. For example, if you have a 100Mbit/s connection, it should take about 1 hour. If it doesn't, the problem is either your ISP routing or your firewall/antivirus interfering.

To be sure the problem is your ISP, you can try using a VPN, which will bypass your ISP routing and would let you connect to another node (you never connect to our server, nobody does, not even I connect to it directly, you always connect to a node of the Cloudflare network closest to your location), this one should do the job, even in the Free version:

Of course, the usual suggestions about disabling the firewall or configuring the antivirus to exclude the whole Addon manager folder from scanning also apply.

Thank you for the video and explanation, and apologies for the late reply.
As it turned out, the zip archive was corrupted. But even on a second download, although faster, it didn’t go quite right.
Only after this, when I run the ‘check’ function, did it download the missing sound and image files directly. GSX is now working fine for me, thank you.
