Have purchased this Phnl. I read manual, don't see any settings tips.
Manual is good but I want to know if there are settings that you would suggest?
I also have problem with flickering textures on different objects. Thank you for help
-
I also have a problem with flickering textures, they appeared in the area of RW 4R.
-
What other addons you have for the area ?
-
Just the fsdreamscapes Hawaii Mesh, and a Honolulu downtown addon. I also have a few boat addons but nothing scenery releated other than what I mentioned. I removed all of my scenerys that were around the HNL airport. Do you need a screen shot?
-
Ok, the next usual question is: does the problem disappear, if you disable those sceneries in the Scenery Library ?
If yes, then it's problem a mesh issue, which might be fixed with the same fix we'll have to do in any case for the FS Genesis.
-
I am not sure about that, let me check, Im about to go to work now, I will check later tonite and I will get back to you.
-
Thank you for response. I have Megasecenery X and a downtown scenery like other gentlemen post. You still not answer question about scenery setting?
-
Virtuali,
I, too, have noticed this flickering around the departure end of Runway 8R and especially on Taxiways RC and R8. And, I do NOT have MegaScenery X or FSGenesis but, FSGlobal 2010.
I also made a video of it; if you really want to see it, I'll upload it. But, here is a pic for now...
EDIT: Here is the Video, too...

Those problem comes on using third party scenery.
If you install PHNL on a fresh FSX, you don't have any flickering ground.
You have to imagine that I have to check all add-on for compatibility.
It's not really simple.
We will work on finding a solution that solve the problems.
Thank you
Fabrizio

I see flickering texture on objects like baggage carts, and parked cars. It's really annoying.
-
I fixed the flickering textures on the baggage carts by adding mipmaps to the associated texture files.
Google 'adding mipmaps to textures in FSX' for help on how to do it.
-
I am happy to see respone that effort is happening to correct.
This scenery cost was not cheap. I alway enjoy your company product. I have most.
Thank you.

Mr. Fabrizio,
Of Course... I will endeavor to verify my graphic settings as well to insure that it isn't something else that was overlooked and will post any new information.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to the issues.

Only issue I've noticed is I landed on Runway 2R and when I started to exit, the runway turned into grass. Looked like default showing through, but PHNL is well above the default scenery in the library, and I do not have third party Hawaii scenery of any type.
-
I was having a similar issue of default grass/ground showing through the end of runways. Fixed by switching to 2m mesh resolution. I am using FSGenesis V2 mesh as well.

Fixed by switching to 2m mesh resolution.
I'll check that out, TYVM.
-
Virtuali,
A good DEFRAG and a restart and the flickering seems to be gone for now...
However, here are those "lighter-shaded" brown lines that cross the runways, etc. Is this a graphic setting issue or perhaps something else? :-\
Please see pic below...

The higher res ground is made in tiles, what you are seeing is the joint between tiles, it's impossible to have a perfect fit, both because there's a limit in positioning accuracy in Flightsim, and also because the graphic card filters the textures, but the filter doesn't "continue" between adjacent tiles.

I figured as much... I'm using a screen res. of 3840x1024 [on (x3) 42" LCD Monitors] so, every-little-defect/error seems to show up :'( and sometimes its hard to know weather its an FS issue or something else. Well, it's not too much of a bother like the flickering was.
Grazie! :)

Is your company working on problem of textures? Have no seen any new info. past few days. >:(

What is the problem of textures ? The scenery doesn't have any problem of texture. There are issues of compatibility with a couple of photoreal addon sceneries, which will be fixed, but the scenery itself doesn't need any fix, if used alone.
The problem James was referring to, is really minor, it's not a flickering, it's not really fixable entirely.

"flickering texture on objects like baggage carts, and parked cars'
This is problem for me as was such in other post someone write they have problem to. That is my concern. >:(

"flickering texture on objects like baggage carts, and parked cars'
I'm sorry, but this discussion has been mixed with another problem on ground, that we don't see so, it caused by something else, and *another* problem (the small seams between tiles), which can't be fixed and it has been the same for all our sceneries.
About vehicles yes, there are a few texture for vehicles that are missing their mipmaps.
This is problem for me as was such in other post someone write they have problem to.
There wasn't just a problem report, but a solution has been posted, which was to add mipmaps and save the file back.
If you don't want to do it yourself (it's really a 2 minutes work with Imagetool), or wait for a patch, here's the files with mipmaps attached, put into the fsdreamteam\PHNL\texture folder

NOTE:
This is only a temporary solution because, we need to do an entirely different fix because, this is not something that can be really fixed with textures, it's the object that has been modeled differently.
