Starting today when I try and open FSX I get an error message regarding the bglmanx dynamic link library(didn't install anything new today if that could effect something). I've had this happen to me once before a few months ago, I simply uninstalled and reinstalled all the FSDT sceneries and it fixed it. However I tried that again, and it did nothing. I'm running windows xp, and in game the add on manager isn't there. I assume my weather programs require that to run as well, because they aren't functioning either now.
-
Try to download and install the Stand-alone Addon Manager installer for FSX and install it AFTER all the sceneries.
-
Ok and where can I find the download for the add on manager?
-
Click on the Fsdt High quality addons tab on the top of forums page. Then click on Products. Then on any info product tab and scroll down untill you see,on left, Stand alone addon manager. One for FSX and one for Fs9. They are in blue print. :)
-
Thanks :) however, I reinstalled the add on manager and the error is still coming up. The add on manager still isn't present.
-
- Uninstall the Addon Manager. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.
- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.
- Reinstall the Addon Manager with the Antivirus TURNED OFF in that way. Don't launch FSX yet.
- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:
YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\couatl.exe
YourFSXFolder it's usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, if you installed it in the default folder.
- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.
- Check that is asking permission to run the Addon Manager and the Couatl Scripting Engine. Reply YES to both questions.
- Check that you see BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl Powered plugins" menu under the FSX "Addons" menu. If you don't try to reboot Windows and launch FSX again.
-
Both have been removed although it said the files cannot be specified.
-
excludes in AVG Resident Shield component are available at menu Tools -> Advanced settings -> Resident Shield
For AVG 8.5:
-> Exceptions ... whole folders only could be used
For AVG 9.0:
-> Directory excludes .... folders
-> Excluded files .... files
-
Both have been removed although it said the files cannot be specified.
If you mean the message at the end of the Uninstall, that's not a problem. It's just a message that is informing there's nothing to be removed further, because the files that had to be removed were already successfully removed.
-
I have 8.5 and can only see folders, and subfolders. How do I put the bglmanx.dll file as an exception, if its not in a subfolder?
-
Just exclude the main FSX folder. It will be good for loading times as wel...
-
Just added the entire FSX folder to the exclusion list , and turned AVG back on. Did I need to restart my computer, because the message came up again.
-
I always leave firewall and antivirus off when installing and playing. Even though I have added the all addons to exception list in AVG. :)
-
The strange thing to me is I've been using FSX ever since it came out and never had to disable anything to play it. Don't see how all of a sudden I do, especially when I was running these sceneries for months without a single problem. Except for now and the time I mentioned before where I simply reinstalled the sceneries. I'll give it a try though :) However, I won't shut off the firewall, because I run REX and ASA which download from the internet.
-
Did I need to restart my computer, because the message came up again.
But, has the message gone away after the reboot ?
-
No it did not. Even tried it with the AVG resident shield off.
-
Have you followed entirely my previous advice, that said that on top of having to exclude the FSX folder, you also have to install the Addon Manager with the Antivirus TURNED OFF ?
Just excluding the folder it's not enough, you also need to turn off the antivirus during the Addon Manager reinstall
-
Yes, I installed the add on manager with AVG Resident Shield turned off.
-
Try to follow this, exactly:

Can't find anything that says fsx.cfg or appdata where exactly are they?

Can't find anything that says fsx.cfg or appdata, where exactly are they?
The FSX.CFG is in
%APPDATA%\microsoft\FSX
Just type this in the Start button blank area, press enter, and the folder will open.

I did all the steps and opened fsx, and got the message again. However I clicked yes and saw the add on manager was present, and the sceneries were visible. Just rebooted and opened FSX again and the message is gone. Thanks so very much for your patience. :)
