Hi Guys. I own Cloud9 AMS and FSDT JFK ORD and ZRH. Anyway I have just bought a new PC and i am facing a weird problem. I am usign Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit as I was using before in my older PC and all them four sceneries worked fine without a problem. This time I installed just Cloud9 first then FS9 just crash when i click to launch it. tried with FSDT products also and then same results. I was only able to go into FS again after deleteing bglman.dll and then removed the sceneries in FS. Then i uninstall in the add.remove programs and everything is removed except for cloud9 as when i click on it nothing happens it's like the process freeze. After restarting many times also i can't run the AMS104 installer again as the process freezes too :( I tried installing just FSDT and still crash. So the problem is bglman.dll i guess. Can you please help me fix this?? tried downloading addon manager also and installed it after installing all sceneries but still doesn't work. even after disabling AVG.
Please help! :(
Thanks

The current version of bglman.dll works with Vista 64. The older version that comes with EHAM does not.
If you have FS9 QUIT (not crash) on launch, it's because you are probably trying to use a mix of older and new versions together, which is something that doesn't happen if you use our installers and if you install Cloud9 stuff first.
Check you are doing this, exactly this, and only this, don't do anything else, and do it in exactly the following order:
- Reboot Windows
- Install all Cloud9 products, be sure you are using the current version, if not, download the installers again. Don't launch FS9 yet.
- remove bglman*.* (DLL and DAT files) from the MODULES folder
- Install FSDT products. It's important that you install FSDT AFTER Cloud9.
If still doesn't work, don't do anything, just report back.
-
Thanks very much for a quick reply!!
Ok I will do exactly what you say and report the result. Just a few question please:
1. As i told you, the problem is when i try to install Cloud9 now the process freeze. it comes up and said initializing installation then just freeze. Is there anyway i can solve this first? maybe delete its registry something? how can i do that? because i removed the folder manually and now when i click uninstall program it just freeze also the process.
2. I disabled DEP in vista? Could this be the problem? I doubt it though.
3. I hope your method works cos before after i rebooted the computer and gave up on AMS and reinstalled the three FSDT sceneries first and then installed the addon manager from cloud 9. It crashes.
Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

Hi. I tried exactly like you said but still doesn't work :( FS9 still quits right after I launch it :(
As I've said, if it just quits, without any error message, it's because files are mixed between old and new versions. Have you followed my direction *exactly*, including the manual remove of ALL bglman* files after installing the Cloud9 version ?
Can you please check the bglman.dll version ? Right click on it, and select "Properties", then "Details"
-
Hi yes. I tried exactly like you said. Now I have just uninstalled everything and i deleted bglman already so i don't know version. I use uninstall program from control panel to uninstall all FSDT products and for CLOUD9 is freezes. I ended up having to uninstall it via revouninstaller which cleans registry also. Even when i installed cloud9 (download from the web latest version) it just comes up saying starting installation and then it deosn't even show the progress just after sometimes pdf file of ams pop up on desktop and i see through FSNAV database that the scenery is intalled. i followed ur exact instructions but doesn't work.
i am goign to try reboot now an install just FSDT and see how it goes and if it works or not cos it should right? if i dont install cloud 9 again.

Okay i tried installing only Zurich after uninstalling everything and still the same thing happens. Something must be wrong. and also weird how the AMS installer behaved like i told you.
anyway the file version is 1.0.0.62 downloaded during the installation of Zurich.

I haven't said to "uninstall everything". I've said to do specifically a certain course of actions, only those actions, and only in that order, so I'm sure what you are doing.
Now, please, do the following, so we'll be sure of the files:
Could you install this utility here ?
http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/downloads/HashCheckInstall-latest.exe
It's a small shell extension that can be used to verify file integrity. After installing it, can you check the MD5 checksum for the following files ?
bglman.dll
bglman.dat
bglman_fsdt.dat
bglman_skymakers.dat
You can check the checksum, by right-clicking on each file, and selecting "Properties", then the "Checksums" tab, with several checksums will be listed. Post here the md5 for all 4 files. This will, at least, verify your files are not corrupted on your machine.

Hi. Okay I have done as you said. So weird why suddenly there is this problem this time when it never failed to work before :S. Okay here are the scan:
File: Modules\bglman.dat
MD5: ce4ef4da8aae753966cbfb635f805770
File: Modules\bglman.dll
MD5: e97425291bd93b2028755d90ad51b013
File: Modules\bglman_fsdt.dat

Hi. I don't know if this is worth mentioning ( i doubt it isn't) but i have 6gb ram in my vista ultimate 64bit and i use CFF explorer to set "app can handle more than 2gb....". Shouldn't be a problem as i did previously also but just though I'd mention it just in case.
-
Alright, all your files are fine, so we can exclude a corruption or a mis-match of those.
It might be the esellerateengine.dll hasn't been installed, or it's the wrong version.
Check the esellerateengine.dll file in the following folders:
C:\Windows
C:\ProgramData\Esellerate (this is an hidden folder, you need to enable hidden files view in Explorer to see it)
C:\FS9 (your FS9 root folder)
You should have only 1 esellerateengine.dll file, and ONLY in the C:\ProgramData\Esellerate folder. If you see other copies of it in the other folders, remove them all.
And, just to be sure the .dll is the right one as well, you can download it separately from here.
http://www.virtualisoftware.com/binaries/eSellerateEngine.dll
Put it into the C:\ProgramData\Esellerate folder
-
Yes it's only in the folder that it is supposed to be and the file version is 3.6.5
I can't download via the link you gave me. It says no permission to enter something like that. Tried with both Firefox and internet explorer. It doesn't work.

The links works fine, just tried it now.
However, your Esellerate version seems to be the correct one. It's important you don't have another copy lying in any of the other folders.
-
Hi. The link still doesn't work for me. Will try on other computers. Yes I can confirm that the file is not in any other folders except in the programdata/esellerate folder
What to do now sir?
-
I'm sorry, but I'm afraid there are no other explanations, other than something in your system that prevent it to run.
I've just tested now again, just to be sure, on a Vista 64 machine (a Mac booting in Windows, on top of that...), with 6GB AND with FS9.EXE patched to use >2GB.
No problems whatsoever, FS9 runs at the first try, I've only installed KFLL, but that comes with same bglman files you have. Patching or not FS9 for >2GB with CFF explorer doesn't make any difference: it works in both cases.
And yes, I also have AVG installed with the latest A/V definitions just downloaded, and it's not even disabled.
BTW, KFLL is running at 70 fps in this setup...
-
So weird. :( Never mind. Thank You very very much for your help sir!
I'll have to do it the hard way and maybe reformat the computer and install everything from scratch. Any advise whether i should stay on 64 bit or go back to 32bit?
-
Difficult question, because it depends what else you do with that computer.
If I had to use a PC just for flying, and with FS9 only, I'd use XP 32.
-
Well I use fsx also but time to time and plus 32bit version won't utilize all the ram I have right?? So to prevent OOM also maybe shud stick with 64 bit??
-
Yes, on a 32 bit OS, you can't use more than 3GB for an application, even if patched. However, under x64 OS, a 32 bit application (when patched), can only use up to 4GB, even if you have more ram. So, in order to use ALL your 6GB, an application should be a native 64 bit app.
So, it really depends by *how much* you are exceeding what would be the otherwise standard limit of 2GB per process.
If FS9 + your addons are taking, let's say, 2.5 GB, you would need to patch FS9.EXE, but it would run well even with Windows 32 bit, since you can have up to 3GB there. It would not run much better with 6GB, the only difference would be that the system will have more space for disk chache, on a x64 OS.
If, instead, your FS9 + addons is taking more than 3GB, than you don't have any other choice to use x64, which can go up to 4GB per 32 bit process (when patched)
Of course, FSX might be more taxing on RAM so, if you use FSX as well, it might be better (considering you already *have* 6GB) to use x64. But in this case, I'd wait for Windows 7.

Hi Virtuali!
Great News I think. I have reformatted my computer and went with Windows VISTA Ultimate 64 bit again and this time I decided not to install anything in the computer first except FS and updated it to 9.1 and applied the no cd crack and then as you said:
Installed AMS first then remove the three bglmans and then install all three FSDT sceneries. Now I can enter FS and managed to reactivate all the four sceneries!! Thank You so much! Don't know why it wouldn't work before!! Anyway let's hope there won't be any problems now. I am thinking of purchasing FSDT Geneva and Las Vegas also and i hope it doesn't mess anything up! Thank You once again.
Your help is very very much appreciated and thanks for a super quick reply and wonderful products!!!
Now I will go through a long process of installing everything again so that tonight i can fly into Amsterdam!!
Best Wishes

I too had a similar problem with Cloud 9 KLAX and Fsdt KORD,KJFK,KLAS and had KFLL installed but not active. My problem was FS9 would quit (APPCRASH) anywhere between 5-30 minutes of flight. It started after I installed KFLL, again just the demo, not active. I had that problem with XP 32 bit, then changed to Vista Ultimate 64 bit and the problem was SILL there, then decided to uninstall FS9 & start again from scratch and add one at a time to see if I could find the culprit.
I followed your steps of installing Cloud 9 KLAX first, the delete Bglman(s) then installing the active Fsdt airports ORD, JFK & LAS. Then adding on all of the WOAI and other aircraft back into the hanger. Overnight I did a run from KORD to EGLL, in the Level-D American Airlines flt 92, flight time 7:36 and no problems at all.
My question is, did deleting the Bglman(s) fix my problem, or could something in the KFLL package create this problem? Thank you for the great scenery, I truly enjoy flying into & out of your airports, FPS average 50-70.
Thanks again,

I'm not sure to have understood the question. You said yourself that, after reinstalling FS9 from scratch, you were able to complete a whole flight without problems so, it appears your problem has been fixed. It was probably inside FS9, since you said that reinstalling Windows didn't help, but reinstalling FS9 did.
However, the whole point is that your problem was not caused by bglman.dll in the first place.
- If you had the old version, it would not run on Vista 64 at all.
- If you had mis-matched files coming from different version, it would not crash after some time, but it would quit from FS9 at start
And, as you said yourself, by reinstalling everything from scratch, works ok now. So, it's clear that your problem was not related to bglman.dll in any way. The fact you reinstalled everything from scratch, has probably fixed something else, either in your Windows installation or in your FS9 installation, that created the crash after flying for some time.
And no, the fact that it started when you installed KFLL, it's no indication the problem is KFLL, which is obviously clearly demonstrated by the fact that, after a total reinstall, you are now able to use KFLL without any problems.
Also, the steps I've outlined to correctly install the sceneries, are usually not needed. It should be more than enough to just install FSDT after Cloud9, I simply added the "manual remove" step, to be absolutely sure that nothing could interfer with the correct updating of the files, but it shouldn't be necessary, under a normal, working system.

Thanks Virtuali for the quick reply,
I do apologize for not being more succinct, I have reinstalled twice on Vista 64 and have had the same problem every time. Third time was the charm, i was reading this post, so I tried it. I installed everything back into FS9 but, I forgot to add in my post that did not install KFLL on my system, and everything is running smooth. That's where my question was, "is there anything" in the KFLL package that would be attributed to this, or should I rule it to "Gremlins" , WAIT! Could it be a conflict with KFLL & FREEFlow Florida scenery? Just thought of that one.
Like I said, I am running fine now without KFLL (darn) but again, thanks for ALL of your help with my gremlins.

Of course there's nothing in KFLL that is *causing* problems.
If there was, it would cause problems to everybody, and we would have the forum flooded with reports. And, of course, we would have found it already and fixed.
Which is, of course, different than saying that KFLL might be *affected* by something else so, one might mistakenly assume that KFLL is causing problems, just because he notice soone after he install it, but this does't mean the cause is KFLL itself but, simply, something that is affecting it.
Don't have any idea if or why KFLL might be affected by another scenery but, of course, if the other scenery had a bug in this area, it might get noticed more easily, because, having KFLL, you have a reason to go there.
The obvious course of action in this case, is to install ONLY FS9, the 9.1 update AND KFLL, and NOTHING ( I repeat, NOTHING) else, then test it for a while.
Once you are confident KFLL works, you can start installing the OTHER stuff, one by one. Eventually, you'll find the culprit.

Thanks for your help, but by the tone of your reply, I hope I DiD NOT offend you in anyway, because that was NOT my intent AT ALL! All I was doing was throwing out ideas and picking your brain.
I do understand that if there was another issue with the package, there would have been a post on it, and your team would have fixed the issue in a timely matter, that has been demonstrated in the past. I saw the post with symptoms that were similar to mine, so I thought I would ask.

No problem here, I'm not offended in any way and, one shouldn't forget that, written words usually sound stronger than a verbal conversation would be.
I was only suggesting what would be a correct way to search for problems: starting with clean installation and testing one by one every addon, is the only thing that really works.
