hi folks,
today i switched over to fsx. i own the gold edition + acceleration pack.
jfk is installed at fs9 as well as fsx.
when i go to addon manager (in fsx), it says that its activated already.
the problem is, that i dont see no buildings.
do i have to deactivate jfk in fs9 before getting it started at fsx?
many thanks,
sören

You don't need to do anything on fs9, you can keep using the fs9 version in fs9, if you want.
To see the scenery in FSX, you just need to install the FSX version of the scenery. Since it's already activated on your PC, you don't need to do anything to activate it, it will just run as registered.

hey umberto,
thanks for the reply.
the problem is, that the active airport can´t be seen in fsx!
i don´t see nothing but the slight imagination of the great ground of jfk, knowing from fs9.
don´t know what to do!
thanks in advance,

Have you installed the FSX version of JFK in FSX ?
-
hey umberto.
yes, i did install the correct version.
i downloaded the fsx version sunday.
i just tried it to overwrite, but no results.
i still can´t see anything, except the ground textures but slightly.
i must say, that i use a different drive for fsx. fs9 is drive d and fsx is drive e.
does it matter?
best wishes,

What do you mean with "overwrite" ??

Since you said the FSX Addon Manager reports the scenery beign active, then it's active, and the Addon Manager is running so, this doesn't have anything to do with it.
If you don't see the scenery with the Addon Manager running, then it's surely something related to your scenery.cfg that was already corrupted/had a syntax errror before running the installer. But in this case, you should have seen a warning message from the installer, that the file hasn't been touched because it was already wrong, so the installation didn't continued, and that's why you don't see any scenery, because no files were copied if the installation aborted for this reason.
As I've said, if this is the case, you should have seen an error message when installing.

No, it doesn't, unless you installed FSX on one drive, then manually moved it to the other drive after the installation, which would create an huge mess (basically, nothing will probably work)

hey,
i found the reason why i wasn´t able to see anything.
the sliders in fsx were too low.
is there any explenation on how to get best fps in fsx and your scenerys??
of course, i´m a newbe at fsx, and i have to try a lot on my own, but a little help would be great.
what should or could be the target fps for kjfk?
best wishes,

Depends on your computer. The system I have will run FS9 and not even breathe heavy, but FSX kicks it in the family jewels and drops it to its knees. I capped my frames at 24, and with sliders at mid to upper range, I come pretty close at most airports.

hey,
i do really think my system should handle the fsx, but still there are performance lacks.
i got a core 2 quad 9550, the ati 4850 gpu, 4 gb on ram, still win xp.
ok, so far.

Just keep playing with sliders and see what works and what doesn't. Good thing about FSX is the ability to save and load different configurations, so you don't have to overwrite known good settings.

hey,
thanks so far.
i´ll keep trieing until i´ll have found the right setting.
i believe i´m on a good way.
