This message has been added to the latest version of the program, and it means the Follow Me was "scared" about you coming towards it too dangerously, so they flee away (if you were in the outside view, you would see the Follow Me fleeing), so the service was terminated, and you must call it again.

Thanks for answering

Hello,
thanks for the update and to be able to disable the fleeing of the follow me.

However, one question:

in the update readme it says that I can setting the followme_disable_flee = 1 in the INI.
I do not found that line in the INI after the update?

Do I have to add this line myself???

many thanks

Yes. Since it defaults to 0, and it has never been set before, the line is not there.

I have added the line as per the instructions but when testing I'm still getting aborts if I'm a little reckless following the truck.

Code: [Select]
[gsx]
refueling_time_min = 15.0
ui_verbosity = 2
refueling_time_factor = 0.0022
disable = 0
deboarding_time_factor = 0.5
parking_editor_sash = 150
waiting_msg_delay = 10.0
show_vehicle_editor_help = 1
ui_volume = 10
slowdown_speed_knots = 7.5
disable_on_airports = NONE
deboarding_time_min = 30.0
parking_editor_width = 903
boarding_time_min = 30.0
boarding_time_factor = 0.6
parking_editor_height = 702
followme_speed_knots = 14
deboarding_time = 0
boarding_time = 0
refueling_time = 0
editor_disable_joystick = 0
followme_disable_flee = 1

[parkme]
disable = 1

[common]
audiovolume = 0.629999995232
audiodevice = Generic Software on Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)

[liveupdate]
last_check = 1440066588.55
major_version_installed = "8401cb-4-50ecdb8bc8380"
major_version_ignore = "8401cb-4-50ecdb8bc8380"
live_version_installed = "980121-9b338-51d81328336c0"
live_version_ignore = "980121-9b338-51d81328336c0"

It's not enough to just add the line. You must also update to the latest GSX code using the Live Update feature, or reinstalling GSX.

I uninstalled GSX and reinstalled GSX two days ago from what I presume to be the most recent download.

I did a little more testing and found that the vehicle seemed to be aborting for saftey when it got confused about the path to take.  When I did something reckless like rear-end the vehicle it carried on with no abort.

No, it doesn't do that. There are TWO kinds of "evasive maneuvers":

1) The one that prints a message "aborts due to safety reasons", which ABORTS the service, and CAN be now disabled with the followme_disable_flee = 1 parameter

AND

2) One that doesn't print anything, it goes around your airplane and CONTINUE the service, which is always active and cannot be disabled.

If you set the followme_disable_flee = 1 parameter, you will only see #2, in all cases when there's a problem, like going too close to the car, or not having any other way to reach other than going around you, etc.

Well, okay then...it doesn't work this way on my installation.

I can only repeat and confirm it's working, provided you have the latest version of the files.

Could be you simply have a problem with the Live Update notification ? The Live Update is not checked constantly, but only after 24 hours since the last check, and if you ignored it once, it won't be checked again until we'll release the *next* Live Update.

Either use the "Check for updates" under the Live Update menu, which will force a new check, or reinstall GSX, which will surely get the very latest code files.

Perhaps you could look at the embedded couatladdons.ini file I included further up in this thread which I believe indicates the version it is checking under '[liveupdate]'.

If you do what I suggested to do ( Either use the "Check for updates" under the Live Update menu, which will force a new check, or reinstall GSX, which will surely get the very latest code files ), you'll get the latest files, regardless of what's in your couatladdons.ini file. Have you tried that ?

Checked liveupdate and it repeated the notification for 17-Aug-2015 update which is odd because I had previously updated which of course is where I learned about the followme script.  In any event I updated 'again' and it seems to be working as you presented.

Thanks for your patience....Brent

Ok I need to know where this config is that I add the line to.

The Couatladdons.ini file discussed in this thread, is under %APPDATA%\Virtuali

Could you make this feature selectable on/off in the normal menu?

The idea of a scared and fleeing marshaller is funny, however highly unrealistic. In 8 years in commercial aviation I have never seen a marshaller (follow me) abandoning an aeroplane because he/she is scared.

Don't take me wrong, I do like GSX, however I don't like fleeing follow me's when they are scared of my, whilst they decide to pull the parking brake in front of my nose wheel. a B77L at max landing weight has a slightly larger stop distance than a vauxhall Corsa at 18 knots.

Another thing, is there an option to turn off the nosy comments about parking two inches too far/shy off/ left/right of the perfect parking spot? I don't mind critisism, but with marshallers giving generally the wrong signals all the time it is hardly possible to park spot on.

Features are nice, but on/off switches even nicer when the features are not close to reality :)

thanks for reading! my2ct.

The marshaller doesn't give "wrong signals". It's just more difficult to drive a simulated plane on the sim compared to reality, because you don't have the same visual cues and the brakes don't have the same feeling (especially if you don't have analog brakes).

But many users are perfectly able to get the "dancing marshaller" easter-egg, which appears only 1 out of 5 PERFECT parkings, which clearly means they can do many perfect parkings, which wouldn't be possible if the marshaller gave "wrong signals", which is not the case.

The Follow me Flee CAN be disabled, I don't see how different would be if it was a menu option, since it's just enough to change a single number in the .INI file.
