No Buildings
« on: January 28, 2014, 12:30:33 pm »
Hello,

I recently flew to JFK (v1) and found that I had no buildings at the airport.  I tried re-installing to no avail.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Be sure you use the latest installer, not an older installer you might still have.

I've just downloaded and used the latest installer.  Same result, no buildings.  Also, I do not see the coualt submenu in the addons menu.

I do not see the coualt submenu in the addons menu.

The problem is likely caused by an antivirus update. Try this:

- Uninstall the scenery. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall the scenery with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\couatl.exe

YourFSXFolder it's usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, if you installed it in the default folder.

- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the "Addons" menu.

Tried this already.  Shut off the antivirus completely and added the exclusions.  Still no buildings.

The "no buildings" is not the problem. That's just a consequence of this. The problem is that you Couatl menu is missing, because it has been blocked by something, most likely the antivirus and we have reports of antivirus so bugged that they continue to block things even when turned off.

Have you been ASKED permission to run both modules when you restarted FSX ? Have you replied YES to both ?

If you haven't been asked permission to run the Couatl module, and you really have followed the previous procedure entirely, including this step:

Quote
Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

And you still haven't been asked permission to run the Couatl module when starting, than it means the module has been blocked, most likely by the antivirus. It's either this, or you have skipped that step.

In this case, repeat the whole uninstall/reinstall, don't skip any step, and PAY ATTENTION if you have been asked permission to run both modules, obviously reply YES to both.

This will talk you through how to allow the fsdreamteam stuff through your PC.

1) Ok, uninstall all the JFK stuff you installed.

2) Follow the link above and allow Virtualli stuff through your PC

3) Download just the KJFK V2 from the products page on the website

4) install

5) When you are prompted just follow he instructions.

6) activate your scenery, then also make sure you activate through excellrate or whatever its called, this should be prompted for you.

Any more probs just ask.

Ok, that would have been my next reply, if you said that you weren't asked permission to run the program again. Yes, that problem is very well known, and was caused because you decided not to trust "Virtuali" as a publisher so, nothing signed by us would ever run again on your system, unless you Undo it. Nobody except you could have added a publisher in the untrusted publishers list.

Could this be pinned or placed on the FAQ page as its easy when you have this information but hard going if you haven't......maybe it would prevent people from voicing anger when its down to their system ;D

Cheers again 8)

If only people would *read* the FAQ page...we receive 8-10 emails every day, with people asking how to find a lost order, and the FAQ page *starts* with that, and of course there's also a sticky thread in the General section of the forum that says the same thing.

lol, ah yes the "if only"  ;D  As I was having problems with the buildings myself, and I had the most recent installer from you guys. I just re-installed the most current update and it seems the problem was solved. But it has been my experience in the past, where if just anything is not written correctly by the installer, no matter how small a file or the importance, everything goes down the drain. And this in no way reflects badly on the software company, alot can go wrong during installations, AV scan, failure in the disk write procedure, malware bytes updating causing a bottleneck with the HD, etc, etc, etc.....

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm having the same problems. However, I've already allowed all modules to run and I do not have any antivirus running, I still don't get any buildings in JFKv2 occasionally, the past 3 flights (on a brand new FSX install) I've had no issues with the buildings, but this time round there isn't any ground scenery in JFK, only the jetways. I must say that it has happened before I reinstalled FSX, again only occasionally.

The usual question: do you have BOTH the "Addon Manager" AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the FSX "Addons" menu ?
