Looking at the airport causes menu bar from Prepar3d v2 to hide
« on: November 28, 2013, 10:02:32 pm »
I have just noticed, that if you fly very near your Geneva Airport and turn your view towards the Airport (in or out of the Cockpit) then it causes Prepar3d v2 to hide it's menu bar. If you turn your site away from the Airport the menu bar appears again!

With Zurich it's the same. It could be happening with all your sceneries being used with Prepar3d v2.

Thought you would interested to check this out...  8)

Already discussed in another thread:

That was a temporary solution, but is not needed anymore, read below:

No, it should affect those two (possibly the Hawaii ones, I need to check), and the fix for Zurich is already online, just reinstall the scenery or the Stand-Alone Addon Manager to get it, the one for Geneva will be up soon.

It might be noteworthy that - while having the same problem with disappearing menu and FPS text etc - I also experience a heavy drop in framerates along with equally heavy stuttering. I don't see this on any other airport. LSGG is actually the first FSDT airport I have installed. Later on I will try the others too.

Yes, until we do the same fix as for Zurich, it's possible that fps at those airport that have the disappearing menu problem will go down. It's really something we must report to LM, because the scenery is surely 100% correct and is working fine in FSX, but it cause this problem in P3D.

Hello,
I also have the same problem.
Installed yesterday Geneva, Zurich, JFK2, and all Hawaii.
All ok except for Geneva.
In prepar3dv2 disappears the menu bar, the vc gauges and the 2D panels.
Any news about a fix?

Thanks for reply.
I'll wait with confidence.
Outstanding scenery, beside this.

If it can help,
I just encountered a similar problem approaching LIRN, freeware scenery by Napulevola.
Coming from PNZ, when overflying the airport to perform ILS Z, all the 2D panels and the menu bar disappeared.
All reappeared passing the airport and intercepting ILS and disappeared again 2 minutes before landing.
Is it clear that it happens when the airport in in sight, into the main window.
After landing I also cannot see any building, only runway and some taxyway.
If you or LM can find some common elements between Geneva and Capodichino maybe it can help to understand the problem.
It can be a Prepar3dv2 problem or maybe the two airports have some common features not compatible with P3Dv2.
Hope this "discovery" can be useful.

We know *exactly* what causes this problem and yes, it's a P3D bug, and we reported it to LM as soon as we found it, they are aware of it, because it can potentially affect lots of other sceneries.

Bumping this issue if you don't mind. Are there any news regarding this bug, especially now that V2.1 is released? I'm definitely waiting for flawless FSDT installs, especially Geneva of course  :)

Ok, thany you! I obviously missed that thread! Neverhteless it seems that I have to wait for the Hawaiian Airpots and Geneva. I'll proceed then with the others first.
