Textures Not loading on Approach
« on: November 02, 2013, 05:18:37 am »
Hello

I have had JFKv2 for while now and it is great, but I have been having a problem. During the night on approach, the airport loads and the buildings appear, but no runway lights, and no runway/taxiway textures load. As far as I can tell, this is only occurring at night. If I load a flight starting at JFK, the textures load fine. It seems to only be doing it if I fly into range of the airport without previously being at JFK.

Thanks for the help!

Nobody reported this so far, but we'll check it.

Please clarify your  problem: are your textures blurred, or they also fails to load at night only, like the OP reported ? Blurred runway textures are not a problem of the scenery, but a problem of your settings:

- Use HD textures, because JFK use them.

- Be sure you enable Anisotropic filtering on the Video card Control Panel, by forcing the application settings to 8x or 16x.

It looks like the textures on the above runway, but they are the size of the normal JFK runways and have no markings. I am running an intel core i5 3.5ghz, 10GB of RAM, Nvidia GT520, and Win 8 64 bit. I am also experiencing the problem while sing the PMDG 737NGX. I have not tested with anything other that that plane. I am using HD textures, Antistrophic filtering in FSX, and Very High global texture res.
Thanks for the help!

I don't understand how that screenshot could related to JFK.

So, the previous screenshot was an "example" ? Wouldn't be simpler to just a post screenshot of what see at JFK ?

The reason I posted that is because the only way I know how to replicate the problem is to fly an actual flight to JFK, which I will try to do soon but have not had time to do yet. I will be sure to take a screenshot when the issue arises again. I put that screenshot in to show you what the textures are loading as. They are loading as the plain and default blacktop runway texture, like the one in the screenshot. I will try to get a screenshot of the actual problem and any other info you might need to help.

I was able to get these screenshots by flying a flight from PHL to JFK landing on RNW 4R. I departed PHL at night and arrived to JFK at night. As I approached the airport there were no runway lights Illuminated.

All of the grass and taxiways were multicolored as shown below.

The Buildings and ramp was also not loading properly

When I set the time to day in the Sim, all of the textures returned back to normal. Keep in mind, everything loads fine when I load up the sim at JFK.

Thanks for the help

Your screenshots are very difficult to make out. However, it seems that you have PARTS of buildings showing, and also the multicolored landing lights, all seems to indicate you have a problem with memory and/or video memory corruption.

Try all the following:

- Update your video driver

- Reset your video driver settings to default

- Reset the FSX settings to default, by removing the following file:

%APPDATA%\Microsof\FSX\FSX.CFG

This will force FSX to rebuild a new config with all default settings. After doing this, be sure you apply the HIGHMEMFIX tweak in the Addon Manager, save the settings and restart FSX.
