Problems with scenery /airports
« on: October 06, 2013, 10:52:45 am »
Hello
I have trouble getting Fsdreamteam products to work in FSX.
My scenery stops at the loading around 36%.
I am running Win 8 64 Bit
I have tried to uninstall UT2 and GSX but nothing helped
Sad because I would argue that Fsdreamteam sceney are some of the best products on the market.
But I would not invest my money while I can not use them.
Regards
Lysse

That's doesn't have anything to do with our sceneries.

First, because a stop at such early stage usually refers to a problem with the underlying scenery, like default scenery, addon mesh, landclasses, etc. but, most importantly, because 90% of our scenery is NOT loaded during the 1-100% default loading process of the scenery, but instead is loaded AFTER FSX finish loading the default scenery and AI traffic entirely, after the progress bar has ended.

Difficult to know, without knowing what the problem is. Unfortunately, FSX doesn't have a logging feature that could indicate which scenery/file/texture it was trying to access when it stopped at that 36% so, it's only possible to proceed by exclusion.

Do you use 3rd party default scenery replacement products like Flight1 Ultimate Terrain or Orbx FTX Global ? You might start with disabling/uninstalling those. But, it's also possible a default file/texture could be missing or corrupted.

Try to load with a different season. If this fixes the problem, it means the problem is with a texture of a specific season (which can be either default or 3rd party)

In your first message, you said you had problems running "Fsdreamteam products" so, it sounded as if nothing from us worked. Now you say that Geneva works so, what's the place where this happens ?

As I've said, none of our airports load so early in the loading progress bar so, if you are having a problem with (for example), default underlying scenery of the Zurich area or a file/texture that belongs to that area, you might mislead thinking it might have something to do with the airport.

As I've said, a crash so early, only means there's a problem with another addon in that area. Dallas it's one of the sceneries that is loaded basically entirely AFTER the progress bar ends, including the ground textures.
