Big dark Polygon **SOLVED**
« on: May 29, 2013, 04:49:04 pm »
I searched the Forum but I could not find a similar topic.

There is a big dark polygon on the east of the airport in my sim.

Maybe something went wrong when uninstalling JFK V1?
There are no other AddOns installed in the area.

Yes, you are the first one reporting it.

It shouldn't, but you can try to remove the FSX\fsdreamteam\JFK folder ( JFK no KJFK! ) if it's still there, and reinstall JFK V2.

Already done that, because of an AFCAD issue.

Could you tell me where the files of JFKv1 where installed to?
Were there files installed to Scenery/World/...?

Because I use a Ramdisk for some directories and maybe there are old JFK files on the image.
I am very sorry for this (looks like the ramdisk brings more trouble then benefit...)

Or can I get the installer of V1 somewhere to cleanly install and uninstall it again?

This thread has a complete list of folders for JFK V1:

Of course, they are supposed to be removed by the JFK uninstaller, but you can have a look and remove them manually, if they are still there. There are no other files outside of these folders.

Yes, a Ramdisk doesn't have any sense nowadays. Even if FSX doesn't use more then 4GB, Windows uses extra unused RAM for file caching automatically and the file caching made by Windows it's faster than mapping a Ramdisk, the only "benefit" is that with a Ramdisk you can choose what to cache, by other than that, there will be no benefits and just problems.

For example, all our sceneries only runs from the folder they are installed to. You can't move them easily between folders and drive letters.

Thank you,

it is gone now.
That issue was very specific so I don't think I have to write everything down, but it had to do with the ramdisk and some files that were not able to be overwritten. I also reinstalled JFKv2 again...

Great update, thank you for your support!
