Updater not working
« on: May 08, 2013, 12:39:22 am »
I have tried on several occasions to update within FSX and an error message comes up saying that the update was not installed.

I tried updating outside FSX via FSXFolder\Fsdreamteam\Couatl\Couatl_Updater.exe but after it all ran various updates appeared with message that were not updated.

I added it into windows firewall as ok and I then ran the updater several times, each time it does the download but then on the last stage it says "did not install" to each file

I have FSX Deluxe with SP1 & 2 on W7 64 bit

Any ideas?

Please, clarify exactly what message you are seeing, because it might not be an "error". During the update, if a file is related to an add-on you don't have installed, it will say "not installed" even while updating, to indicate it doesn't need to download that update.

If, instead, your message is really an error, clearly indicate the precise error text.

What programs gives this message ? Is the updater being launched ?

I am within FSX, I go to Add-ons and select the Coatl live updater, then check for updates, then install updates, then this message appears

As I've said, What program gives this message ? Is the updater being launched ? Or it's a message that looks like it's coming from FSX ?

Pls see attached prt screen, unsure if this is FSX or coatl

When I try updating outside FSX I also see messages coming up within the updater that "update was not installed"

You should have a more detailed error log in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali\Couatl.err file, please post its content.

Something is not right, because those errors were from December and February, but if you saw that updater error, it MUST have generated an error too on the log file.

Just download the Stand-Alone Addon Manager for FSX, it will update everything just the same and will likely fix the updater too.

Excellent!  I downloaded the standalone add-on manager and installed it.  When I went into FSX and checked for coatl updates under "add-ons" it now says I have the latest installed, so I think I am all good now

Thanks for the swift help!

Love this product....btw only thing I think could be improved are the sounds of the passengers and the air hostess when boarding/deboarding.  I have FSpassengers too and theirs sound a lot better.  With GSX every time the hostess says something there is the same odd sound coming from a child
