[GSX] Regenerating Airport Cache on each FSX Startup
« on: February 16, 2013, 01:43:18 am »
Hi FSDreamteam!

The last couple of days my FSX has started to regenerate the airport cache
from GSX when I'm starting a new flight in my sim. Have tried a lot of things
to get it away. I believe it started after some troubleshooting i had in the end of january.
To rule out your products as the culprit i tried to restore a previous version of the folder
(Eventually it turned out to be the ASE-Modules from Aerosoft's fault). After the troubleshooting
my sim rebuilt it on nearly every startup.

Have tried to take away any recent installed scenery, reinstalled all my FSDreamteam products with no luck.
To top it all something really weird happen after landing in KLAS. I activated the GSX, and i resetted it because
i clicked the wrong action in GSX. When i clicked reset my sim regenerated the cache again.

I have...

FSDT GSX
FSDT KJFK
FSDT LSGG
FSDT KLAS

Any suggestions? May the restoring of the previous folder caused some trouble for me?

This might be caused by two things:

another product is accessing the cache or keep modifying one of your AFCADs

OR

one of your AFCADs is corrupted

Try to enable logging in GSX Settings -> Troubleshooting, and restart FSX, the produced log file might give some hint why your cache is being regenerated over and over.

Then you are not using the most current version of GSX and you must have ignored a major update notification. Download and install the current installer.

Are you sure?

I've made my comment based on the information you provided, which is that you don't see the Troubleshooting section in the GSX Settings page, and the only possible reasons for this for this are:

1) You don't have the most current version

OR

2) You have it, but you don't see the Troubleshooting page even if it's there.

So, I've started with the most likely, which was #1

If it's #2 instead, then I suggest checking better, because the Troubleshooting page should be there. Note the Setting page can scroll down, the Troubleshooting section is the last one down below, it might not be visible if you don't scroll down the page.

Hi!

I cant find any scrolling functions in the GSX - Setting utility. Have scrolled by first clicking in the left menu. Nothing happens.

Here is how it looks...

I'm very glad that you are helping me, Virtuali :)

Then you don't have the current GSX version. Note that, the Troubleshooting page has been added since September last year. This is how the GSX settings page looks like.
