Bglmanx fatal error
« on: November 25, 2012, 01:45:50 pm »
Gentlemens

After installing and register GSX i have alway's the same message:

"FSX has detected a problem with a third party add-on
bglmanx dynamic link library
version 2.9.0.4
Virtuali s.a.s
file-bglmanx.dll"

If choose to run the program then my pc crashes, if no fsx starts.
I have downloaded the bglmanx file from the forum.
I don't have any "compatibility mode" for FSX.EXE enabled or running as "admin".
Also after installing and register GSX FSX is not running well (error message and fsx shuts down). If i remove gsx this problem doesn't return.

greetings and thx

Marcel

This error has been discussed several times, and it's not a bglmanx error, but it's an FSX bug, since it can happen with any FSX module, especially a newly trusted one. As explained in all other threads:

- Be sure that you don't have ANY "Compatibility" modes selected for the FSX.EXE file. To check this, right-click on it, select "Properties", select "Compatibility" and be sure NOTHING is checked on that page, which is how FSX installs by default.

- Even if FSX says the module might not run, ALWAYS allow to run it, even if FSX crashes.

- Try a couple of times entering/exiting from FSX, and ALWAYS allow the module to run, even if FSX crashes.

- If it doesn't work after a couple of tries, REBOOT Windows and try again., and ALWAYS allow the module to run, even if FSX crashes.

If all of this doesn't help, be sure it's not the antivirus that has corrupted the file, mistakenly trying to "heal" it. In this case, the correct procedure, as explained in many other threads, is:

- Uninstall GSX. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall GSX (using the full installer in this case) with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\couatl.exe

YourFSXFolder it's usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, if you installed it in the default folder.

- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the "Addons" menu.

Have you reinstalled GSX, the Addon Manager or something else from FSDT  *before* the crash ? Since the file obviously doesn't change, it's clear the problem was caused by something else on your system, like an antivirus or maybe a problem with your VC++ libraries.

Try the solution indicated above, as the first step. Don't just post "I've tried everything", just to it now, only what is indicated in the above post, don't skip any step.

I have had exactly the same issues  - ever since I first tried to install GSX early last year. Thought I would try again a few days ago but the problems remain. Yes, I have followed ALL instructions to the letter. Fact of the matter, it will NOT run. I have now un-installed it for the last tome. A complete waste of money.

All the best

Steve

If with "early last year", you mean this message of yours in February, you said you managed to get it working in the end:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=5998.msg53374#msg53374

So, of course, since the last message of yours about this issue was that you had it working, we couldn't assume it was fixed. And, in any case, ALL users that eventually had this problem, fixed it either by reinstalling Windows, or FSX or with a Windows update.

Assuming you took all the steps we indicate to fix it.

Hello Umberto,

Yes,it was working for a short time buy then the recurring problem we are discussing reappeared. All win7 updates etc are done and as I said, instructions here in the forum followed to the letter. There is no way I am reinstalling windows or indeed fsx. That,in my humble opinion, is totally unreasonable. Thanks

It obviously isn't, because what caused the problem is something there.

And, it's not that installing FSX is in any way complex, you can try a *repair* of the FSX SP2, this will simply fix whatever support files were missing/corrupted, and doesn't require reinstalling any addon.

Sorry my friend but your customer skills leave much to be desired with that kind of statement. Clearly this is not going anywhere.

That FSX SP2 can be *repaired* (there's an option for this in the installer) without much effort and without having to reinstall anything, it's not something open to questioning, it's a fact.

And this has been proven to have solved the problem for some users, which is why I told you to try that, BOTH because it CAN be done without any problems and without reinstalling addons, AND because it MIGHT fix this issue.

For other users, what fixed it was reinstalling the VC+2005 runtimes, which is also PART of the FSX SP2 repair procedure,

I've told you exactly what you need to be told that MIGHT fix your problem.

Just curious - do you not like the way Umberto writes his replies?

Dear Sir,
I have a similar problem as Marcel1969; I too get  the message:

"FSX has detected a problem with a third party add-on
bglmanx dynamic link library
version 2,9,0,6
Virtuali s.a.s.
file-bglmanx.dll

The difference is that I re-installed FSX and all my associated addons into a new computer configured with Windows 8.  The following are my specs:

AMD FX(tm)-6120 Six-Core Processor 3.50GHz, 10.0GB (9.80 GB usable) RAM, 64-bit Operating System, AMD Radeon 6700 series display adapter.

I have all the FSDT sceneries and GSX.  They worked flawlessly in my old computer which had Windows 7 OS.  Now, I'm unable to get far before FSX shuts down.  And when I look to re-start it, I get the message that Marcel and others get.  If I choose not to install bglmanx, then FSX installs, but of course I'm without my sceneries and GSX.  I'm not sure if Windows 8 is the culprit.

What is your advice, sir?

Garland
